Offcourse, nobody get's attracted to someone who is nervous and depressed. Confidence is 99% of the attraction. If you show yyour confidence, you can attract people. I'm not confident enough myself, so i bought the book: awaken the giant within. This book can give you the information to gain confidence overall, not just in pick up

for those who read this too, i recommend the book, and experience the same thing as i do, i can recommend the book:
Anthony Robbins: Awaken the Giant Within
This book provides the information to get your goals set, become stronger on your inner game and get that confidence to overcome problems that happen to you in your (entire) life. It's around 500 pages, i got it today, but from what i read already has been of high value to me already.

P.s.: i'm saying this because i believe in it. I am willing to risk it, and do what the book recommends. And that is something people could learn from: sometimes you have to take risks in your life.
