No, I'm not mentally retarded. Sometimes people assume that I have no idea what the special olympics are and that possibly I'm just a narcissistic athlete.
Rather, I'm socially retarded. I hate new people, I can't be funny around them and it takes me forever to open up. Until I get to know someone, I turn mute. Suddenly my own opinions have no validity and I become the ultimate nihilist seeing futility not in my own words but the statements of others. What's the point? It's all bullshit anyway.
This is especially vexing whenever my aunt, an actress, takes me out to meet her minor celebrity friends and various people in the industry. I stand before them thinking, "Shit, these people have kickass jobs and a crapload of cash. What'd I do last week? I got high and entered forms. Then I splurged on In-N-Out. Jesus Special, think of something." But I can't.
So I'm here to learn how to express what I have to say verbally. I figure other opportunities will open up once I learn to do the same.
Looking forward to getting to know you all,
Special O
Edit: P.S. Hopefully I can meet a couple of people in LA to sarge with. Ever since reading The Game I've tried to get my close friends to talk about this stuff in the hopes that perhaps we could help each other out. Unfortunately, those that I can discuss it with are morons or currently dating.
