Ok so I'm in college and my professor talkes about group hugs, and she asks "don't you all like to be hugged?" And a girl (that I really dont care about) says "No I don't like to be touched" Like I said I don't care about this girl in particular but I have never heard of this phenomenon before, people who don't like to be touched... is it an OCD thing? Anyone with experience? |

People that don't like being touch usually have some sort of thing going on inside of them. It being highly insecure with their body, to being OCD, to not just like others touching them at all for no particular reason at all. I have had girls tell me not to touch them, but I usually end up touching them in some manner. |

Morning, its called aphephobia. If you are interested you can research further. There are people out there who fear touch, i personally know some. Its not their personal choice. There can be a lot and different reasons for it. Cheers Jez |

I think this girl just wanted to attract attention to herself. Just like an Emo kid..

A girl that "doesn't like to be touched" simply says that because she doesn't have enough attraction/comfort to you. Or a disorder. But, if you built an ULTIMATE comfort with her she will touch you regardless. It's just an excuse. |

That is bullshit, Aphephobia is a known psychological illness that prevents you from doing that even if you want to. You can get it cured, but it sure as hell doesn't come from comfort from a guy she met 10mins ago.Or a disorder. But, if you built an ULTIMATE comfort with her she will touch you regardless. It's just an excuse. - Exerio |

Quote: Statistics teaches us things occur in bell curves. Your always going to have those outliers who want to be touched way too often, and those who don't want to be touched at all. For PUA purposes, I'd focus on just that large hump.
Indeed you should, but you should also acknowledge that someone differs. People are different and dislike different things. For example: You won't give a spider to a person who has arachnophobia. Just accepting the fact that things differ will leave you more open-minded, and I believe that is a good thing, all though you should not act differently, just respecting other peoples needs are a great thing. - Exerio |

No need to flex your pick up muscles around girls who don't want to be touched. |

This. People have feelings towards things for different reasons. Maybe it is a disorder, maybe it stems back to a childhood occurrence, maybe it's lack of confidence, etc... You just don't know and you may never know. Respect and being open minded will get you a long way.
