| Post subject: | Buying her a thoughtful birthday present |
We've hung out 1-on-1 twice and I'm wondering if it's okay to buy her a thoughtful birthday present. She likes to read and I told her about a really good book I read a long time ago, so I'd like to buy her that. Advantages: - it's inexpensive - it shows I'm interested, but it's something I could give in almost a casual way (e.g. "It's a good read...happy bday!") - it's thoughtful and relevant, different than other guys who might buy her generic flowers or chocolates or whatever - it's a book that I mentioned I liked, not one she mentioned, so I'm 'bringing her into my world' (and its a book guys would probably like more than girls) - it'll always remind her of me when she sees it or picks it up to read it Disadvantages: - too much interest? The problem is that she hasn't responded to my last text or facebook message - I haven't sent any follow ups, and its been between 1 and 2 weeks. We're in the same cultural community and we'll inevitably see each other shortly, where I can re-initiate. Most of you are thinking at this point that she's not interested and I should move on - however, based on our past interactions I realize she might've gone a little cold because I wasn't showing enough interest - playing it too cool, in fact. If my hunch is right, a thoughtful birthday present should warm her up again. And if I'm wrong, then she'll remain cold and I'll move on. Thoughts? |

You should just give her the book because you want to and not expect anything in return. If it warms her up to you great, if not who cares. |
