| Post subject: | I moved and need tips on how to make friends. |
I'm twenty-five and recently moved to the university part of the city. I don't have any friends because I was really lame (introverted) in H.S. until about age 23. All of my co-workers are 10+ years older than me. I'm much more outgoing now, dress nice, and have no major hangups. I want to make some friends and of course meet girls. But I have no idea how to go about doing this. What's the best way for me to meet people in my neighborhood? How can I start meeting all of these college girls? Something deep inside of me says I should just go around and make conversation with everybody I see. Something's good should come out of it. But if you all have any other tips about how I can make friends at 25 years old without being in school...please share! THANK YOU! |

mike is very correct on that although going to parties and gatherings is the best way, u still hav to start from scratch to GET invited to those types of events. it may seem hard but with many ppl especially females u can honestly tell them u hav just moved and want someone to chill with for a while. if u hav one friend there to start with guy or girl it will be a little easier from there mR.e |

You first have to decide what do you want. Male/Female/Mixed group of friends? After that you should think of some qualities which you want your friends to have. For example - if you like to talk about football go somewhere where you know you can find guys/girls that like football. Also a good idea is to do some interesting activities where you can meet people with similar interests. And of course you can always go to someone, smile, introduce yourself and talk. You certainly can make friends that way. My only advice is: quality over quantity. Have fun I don't have any friends because I was really lame (introverted) in H.S. until about age 23. ...a worthwhile read is 'How to win friends and influence people' by Dale Carnegie. Carnegie is classic. |

There's a website, www.meetup.com, which lists tons of social/activity groups. I've made a lot of friends through that, and it's easy to find people that share your interests. There is usually a group for people new in town, and I've even seen PUA groups on there in some places. |
