What are some good affirmations I could use to build my confidence to approach?

Write down 3 of your best qualities on a small piece of paper, fold it up and keep it in your wallet.

Other than that, having a goal of "Having fun tonight, no matter the outcome" is way better than any list of affirmations

A tangent, BUT, you could mix it up with an NLP "scrooge pattern", to get an Affirmation which is the opposite of your negative beliefs about yourself.

A good example of this is in "Ultimate Inner Game" by Hypnotica.

Think of a negative/limiting belief you have. And stretch it out into the future - how will this affect the decisions you make over the next month? The next 6 months? The next year? The next 5 years? 20 years? Think of all the excuses, the missed opportunities, the dissapointment, the frustration. And realise it all stems from that one belief.

Then take the belief and reverse it. This is your positive belief/affirmation. Now, imagine if you had this positive belief - what advantages would you have in the next month? The next 6 months? Year? 5 years? 20 years? What opportunities would you take? What results would you get? What improvements would be made? What would people say?

Then write down the positive belief and that's your first affirmation.

Then systematically go through as many limiting beliefs and you can, invert them to a positive belief. I do one a week personally.

I think this is more effective than just scribbling affirmations, because you get rid of something bad (limiting belief) and replace it with something good (affirmation).

When you've got the affirmations/positive beliefs, it helps if you jump around yelling them whilst listening to music with over 120 beats per minute. Just don't do it in the cafeteria/funeral service/operating theatre.

An example of a limiting belief would be "I can't just go up and start talking to that girl".

An affirmation (the reverse of the above) would be "I can just go up to anybody I want and say hi".

indeed. the subconscious mind accepts suggestions alot faster through dramatic situations. The 3 main ones are: authority (your parents telling you things when you were a child), intensity (you parent shouting at you), repitition (everyone around you telling you the same thing, sure as hell eventually this will become a core belief of yours). affirmations work but one must imagine and FEEL them in order for them to work effectively and to create new beliefs. the subconscious mind knows no difference between an real experience, and an imagined one. So imagine your affirmations while saying them and it will work a treat.
