Post subject:  Why I retire from structured methods.

I've been a student of this for about a year and a half. During that time, I figured, hey, if I get a bullet-proof routine, then I can stick to that for the remainder of my life, picking up any woman. Until this evening, I was the lord of canned material.

But then I visited Starbucks. I went to order a frozen coffee, and the cashier was kind of cute. I wasn't interested in sarging tonight, but figured it would be fun to play around with her a little... just for the fuckin' hell of it. She was standing at the drive-thru window, looked over, asked if I had been helped or not, and I gave her a "what the fuck did you just say?" look, and of course turned it into a joke after she repeated by a knowing shake of the head and smile. And then later when she went to hand me my change, I kept moving my hand around, making her reach over the counter and everything, and she gave me a big grin.

I wasn't "trying" anything. for the first time EVER I was actually just having some fun with a girl without meticulously working out the next steps in my head.

Then I realized... most of my success has come from when I improvised a little from the predetermined method. Sure, they've been a great help. But the more I mature, the more it feels like I'm being too constricted by them.

Immolation herby retires from his "training wheels" of heavily structured methods, and henceforth will go into fully natural/situational pick-up.

From now on I adopt a layed-back, playful, to-the-point style that's lose enough to improvise when I feel the need.

Good for you!

Now I've never thought that structured material was useless, far from it.
When I started all of this, I was unsure to to act and approach, but after a while, the methods and routines helped me out, yet I never stuck with them.
Eventually I said to Hell with routines and then I started having fun.

Don't ever be afraid to try something new, just as long as you have that confidence. Your analogy was right. When we start riding a bike, we use training wheels first, then over time we get out balance and then we ride on our own.

But whatever you do, don't disregard what you've learned or neglect it.
