I feel that the essence of being able to hold a conversation is being cultured enough to relate with anything someone has to say. Am I wrong? I was wondering if you guys felt that watching TV or reading or traveling will all help my game. I'm currently in dental school, which consumes alot of my time, so traveling may be out of the question. What are your suggestions? Thanks! |

Watching TV is generally the anti-thesis of culture. Best thing to do for culture is to go out and visit the city. Go to the museum, start listening to broad ranges of music, and read a lot. Reading will do a lot to help you with developing some more culture. Also, traveling abroad helps a lot too. |

Try to get books that will make YOU more interesting, that highlight cultural icons, events and give you a better understanding of the world, I personally enjoyed "How to Sound Smart at Parties". Good luck.

Watching Tv is exactly what you shouldn't do to be cultured (i gave mine away 2 years ago and never ever want it again), burn that piece of shit down. Just read alot, not only internet stuff, just buy good books on topics who might interest you. Listen to loads of music, try all kinds of styles and you'll certainly discover many styles you didn't even realised you would love. Learning/knowing stuff is exponential, the more you know the easier you will learn new stuff. I don't have great game (yet Travelling is really great to learn life and be cultured, if you have the opportunity do it ! |
