| Post subject: | how to handle harsh negs? |
My title is a little misleading, but I was wondering the best way to handle negs that end up being too harsh. I was field testing some material, my negs were the typical stuff. when i opened the set, my target asked for me to buy them all shots. i of course neg'd by saying "no i wont buy you a shot, thats riduculous. you can buy me one blah blah." then proceeded to talk to the rest of the group. this worked great. however, as i was working my material she interrupted so i neg'd her again. with "wow look at these interruptions, im talking!" yet this time she got frustrated and walked off. her friends then apologized and said shes drunk dont worry blah blah. my question is... how do you know when you neg too harshly? are there any suggestions as to what i could have done that could have prevented this scenario? all of my negs were playful. i said them with a smile and tried to make them to be as "flirty" as possible. ive gone over this scenario a million times and the only thing i can assume is that she already assumed i was at a higher value and when i neg'd it was too much and she assumed i was totally not interested and way out of her league.(as egotistical as that sounds) |

actually i don't think your negging was too harsh at all. it sounds like that girl just thought she was the shit (asking you to buy drinks, interrupting). and she got frustrated that you bested her and went away to pout. my advice would have been to simply approach her again later on and maybe gently tease about her leaving or being too sensitive, then see how she acts. im no expert though if she's still bitchy after that, she's has no sense of humor and isn't worth your time |

Looks like what you were doing worked great you just didn't stick with it. From what it seems, all her friends liked you by saying don't mind her. You were in with them. She was upset enough that she walked away. You were on her mind. If you were to have given her a slight tease, by slight I mean very slight, almost apologetic, you would have been able to move straight into material. Nothing wrong with what you did my friend, just realize next time that getting into a girls head can also mean making her upset enough that she'd walk away. |
