| Post subject: | How to give a present without coming off as AFC |
I was going somewhere in the city and I asked my friend if she wanted anything and she said "actually, if you come across any lint rollers or stain removers I might need some of that" so I said "ok if i happen to come across any ill buy it" So I did buy the lint rollers but not the stain removers and now I realized if I give it to her it'll make me look AFC for buying her something. So what's a good way to give it to her? |

Ah can't do that. we live on campus and i went back home for the weekends (which is really far away) to buy the lint rollers for her. I actually do have to give it to her (don't want it to go to waste) and I need to do it without coming off as buying her gifts |

Tell me if this is a good idea. I plan on walking into her room, say "Hey bitch!" and throw the lint rollers at her then walk over to her roommate, throw my arms around her and say very seducively "Hey (her roommate's name), did you stay out of trouble while I was away?" |

dude, ask for a back massage in return. threaten to throw em out the window if she doesn't. go in be like hey i got something for you, then pull em out and when she says something like ohh thank you and goes for em be like " noooooot juuussstt yeet." then lie down on her bed and say; "well my back aint ganna scratch itsself!" |

I'm not an expert at any of this, but posts like this make we wonder if people are over thinking things too much. You asked her if she needed something from the store, and you picked it up. Seems like going back on anything would make you come across as a jerk, while just handing them over casually would make you a normal person. I really can't see that lowering your value. Now, if you had bought her a lint roller and 24 red roses, we might have an issue, but worrying this much about AFCness seems counterproductive to me. |

Giving a present isn’t always a bad thing. Giving a present too soon is always bad and giving a present upon command is just afc. I say you give it to her and tell her how much she owes you or tell her she owes you a drink later (or something like that). This way it negates the fact that this is a gift (which it wasn’t it was a chore) and shows her that you’re not an afc that buys her things just because she asks. It's not about the gift, its about showing who takes the orders and who follows them. |

Yeah I am not sure if mocking her as you give her a present is the best idea but if you would like to try it, respond back as to how it works.. Or possibly you could try just bringing up in conversation when you two are semi alone that she has some feathers or lint (whatever) on her back and pretend to take something off (instant KINO, just dont be sketch about it). Then mayb say something you possibly might have one for her but your other friend wanted it to but that mayb if she would come do something with you (dinner, movie, lunch, clean your place, study, whatver as long as its a pseudo-date and you can have fun) that you will let her have it. Mayb throw in some push-pull in there how you dunno when you could ever hang cuz your busy doing some VERY INTERESTING things with some other people but if your not to busy you will get back to her.. Try a few things see how it works though |
