I'm in a band, we're not massive or anything like that, but do play around town quite a bit (original rock music). Im really not good at scripted openers and need to let go of them I was thinking carrying CD's with fliers attached inside would be a pretty cool opener - along lines of stopping girls, asking about their taste in music, etc. Then giving them a cd and a flier and telling them im in a band, come to gig if you like it, etc ? On one hand i can see how being in a band is DHV, but SPAM the cd - maybe DLV? to be honest, im pretty new to this and really need to get over my AA and was thinking this would work, does anyone have any tips as to how they'd frame it? Thanks |

I personally don't like DHV and DLV. Your actions show your value, not your stories. Read up on juggler's method. It's one of my favorites. |

Hand out fliers with no intent other than getting people to come to your gigs. Focus on women just because you want more females at your gigs than males  . This should help a bit with your AA. Get comfortable talking to random people.Remeber some faces from handing out fliers, if they show up its an easy opener ... |

I think what it comes down to is your confidence, i dont even use scripted openers dude. just break the ice from something you yourself have experianced. even if it isnt interesting it is how you present it. I have one about my friend getting a tattoo of copenhagen on his ass that works, or one about which of the parents should name the kid, the father or mother. have a wing man or use your cell. i guess what might work for you might be something you come up with yourself. get creative Bro  . so many girls for the taking haha.

not a good way to get over you AA becuase you will get good at it with the cds but then as soon as you stop using them its going to come back becuase your mind will have built the cd thing up to be a crutch. Sure start out with that for a little bit but try to get into just going up to people using a scripted one that might be better.. make up your own or then just go up and say hi. |
