Hey, just an intro to let you guys know where i'm coming from I'm completely new to this, 17, senior in highschool. For the majority of my life, I've been a typical nice guy, afc, wuss, etc. I've liked several girls in the past and tried to make something out of it...didn't really go according to plan. Awhile ago, I clicked really well with a girl but didn't make anything out of it (because i was interested in someone else at the time). Ended up being really good friends with her. Then after awhile, I realized I wanted more. Uh oh. Tried once, failed. Tried to figure out what went wrong, 6 months of no contact, worked on hobbies, school, worked out. Went back for seconds, failed again. Took a step back to reevaluate what had happened- cared too much, valued her too much, friend zone, the other guy etc. During this evaluation I realized being a wuss negatively impacted many areas of my life. Found this forum this week, did some reading, decided to make some changes, not for anyone other than myself. -- From what I've read, step 1 is to go out and strike up conversations with random people. I work at a state university medical lab in a hospital so there are a bunch of students, doctors, nurses and researchers running around. Out of the few times I've tried, they all ended up being somewhat meaningless and awkward. Most of these take place in the elevator, on the lunch line, at a lunch table near mine, library, or when i walk there from the parking lot. How do I start a conversation with people in the said places? |

Read up, brother. Get yourself a copy of Neil Strauss's 'the game' also his 'Rules of the Game', Mystery's (or erik von wrinkle face or whatever his actual name is) 'The Mystery Method' and look into all the stuff they suggest in those books. And yeah, strike up conversations with random people, but I don't know about the elevator. If you did, you'd have to open as soon as the elevator doors do, or you'd immediately have low social value. If you are worried about how to open conversations, just look into the 'Opening' and 'AA' subforums on this site. There is heaps of great stuff here and heaps of great people willing to help. |
