| Post subject: | Driving your car - odd question |
Kind of a unique question, but here goes! I like to apply game to virtually every activity in my life, to really maximize the benefits I receive from it. While I was driving the other day, I simply asked myself "I wonder if there's an 'alpha' way of driving your car to show confidence and dominance?" So, to make a long story short, is there any specific methods I should be using to display confidence while driving to work and what not? I was thinking there might be a fine line between driving too slow to symbolize a weak, boring, and dull individual, and driving too fast to symbolize an energetic, over-the-top, super confident alpha. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think driving techniques could help distinguish these alpha traits? |

1 hand on the top of the steering wheel, look concentrated on what you're doing. Look like you have to be somewhere. Don't drive like granny, take corners a little faster. Your car is a performance machine and you want to get the most out of it possible. Maybe get some subwoofers, chicks dig big woofers, haha not really but subs are awesome. Also driving standard is VERY alpha, shift her hard and fast. |

Haha, awesome. I've been trying to play my music a little bit louder than usual and accelerate a bit quicker than is considered standard. |

i try to drive relaxed...kind of leaned back but not like a gangster... generally left hand on top center of the wheel if im cruisin... if your cars slow, don't try to show off....it will work against you. just chill |

That makes you look like a tool, not alpha. If you had any clue how often everyone I know makes fun of guys that take off really fast. I'm not saying I sit there when the light turns green, I'm usually 20m ahead by the time anyone else starts to move (Calgarians are terrible drivers), but if your tires spin you look like a chump. Also, loud music is fine, but if it's loud enough to annoy people outside your car and not just be slightly heard, then you again look like a tool. Moderation is key.

completely agree... me and friends have often made fun of people who either drive around with obnoxiously loud systems, or people who try to take off like their hot shit, when theyre car is actually quite slow and boring. you look like an idiot if you overdo it |

I usually take off before the person next to me at a light, but they catch up while I shift into second. Also, my exhaust is only loud when I am pressing the gas, which I like... My car bucks a lot when I shift, and I sometimes sit at red lights with my foot off the break. Pretty much what I'm trying to say is driving a stick is the shit. I also have a 1300WRMS system in a hatchback (2 12" Kicker L5s). Even at low volumes, you can hear my bass outside my car - especially with the T-tops off. I'm not going to turn it down when people pull up next to me, I like to listen to my music at the volume I enjoy listening at. However, if I'm messing around with friends in the car, dancing and shit, I'll crank that shit so my whole car rattles. Funny as hell, but I love feeling bass. |

Moderation is key obviously, its entirely age Dependant too. At the age of 17 your kind of expected to drive with loud music and fast speeds. I laugh seeing mid 20 something year olds driving some cheapo civic with his sick subwoofas blasting fitty cent pushing the car much faster than expected to. |

So you're using your age as an excuse to look like a fool to others? I got my first car when I was 17 and had a car until I moved away to college in a city with wicked transit, so I sold it. When I was 16 and didn't have a car, I would bike to school and I STILL made fun of the morons that were the same age as me and had big loud systems that were so heavily over-bassed that you couldn't understand any of the music aside from BAAAAAAABAAEHHHEJEBAJBHJKAH:LFAGL:KJAL:JHGFL:JHAJ!!! I'm sorry, but that excuse doesn't hold up. Loud music is cool if it is able to be enjoyed and heard properly, once you distort it to shit soup, then you become a joke to people. I managed to impress people with my music quality just fine with nothing but a portable cd player running off my lighter plug and coming out of a surround sound computer speaker system that cost me $50, because I didn't have the $650 to buy a deck and have speakers installed into my '77 dodge with only 1 speaker and an AM radio. The few female friends I had at the time prefered riding in my car, rather than the guys that cranked the bass so high that the seats vibrated. Perpetuating a bad stereotype doesn't earn you points with most people. |

well i figured i would say a little somethin somethin...i have never had the money to go out and spend alot on a "kick ass system" but i have always had a nice cd player well to me a nice one..i was always brought up if you dont need it dont waist your money...so i use my cd player to the best that its able to be used with out the banging system...ive had 2 vehicles that i could actually b seen as a "pimp" and i did style in them...now im driving a 1990 s10 pick up with rust spots and all that lol thats what a divorce will get ya...ne ways it is a stick and its not the best looking ride around but its not what you have thats gonna get the hb's its your way about getting them, your driving style and all that just makes you look like your wanting attention...i drive fast and take off fast and jam my music loud but its not to impress anyone...i used to race at the local race track and i just have a lead foot period...i drive with my left hand on the wheel and my right on the back of my seat...nothing speacial....i see a hb i will nod and smile as i drive by..now if i am stoped at a light and there is a hb at the light next to me if she isnt smiling i will get her attention and say why dont you smile a little bit...she will giggle and keep the smile up untill the light changes...all i can say is just drive what ya got and be confident with what ever it is...i laugh when i see souped up cars and crap like that because have of them didnt earn them, mommy and daddy paid for there rides not them...i worked my ass of to get my 500 dollar truck and im proud of my rust bucket.... |

I fully restored my car(73 beetle) from scratch with my mom at like age 10 around 7-8 years ago, it gets alot of attention without having to blast a sound system or drive like a retard.Just have fun with man, don't look like your trying too hard for attention, put on a smile and look relaxed. Not like some 20 something acting "hardcore" and "tough" in his 90 something civic with wings bigger than jets and subs like size of pizzas bumping rap music. There is really no way to look "alpha" driving unless you are in some action movie in a high speed chase. Im not even sure why people are making posts all the time saying "how do i this all alpha and stuff" If you were a true alpha you wouldn't be asking how to be one. Just do what you want. I take back what I said in my earlier post. Just don't compete for attention, you end up looking like a tool. |

Well said Nogame! P.S. That's a sweet ass car man, many many props and huge envy. What colour is it? I think a car that sweet deserves at decent paint job, nothing over the top, but perhaps a few pinstripe highlights or something tasteful. |

Put a decent sound system in it since the stock sound system is a 2 inch speaker and AM radio. Its only 56 horsepower but it gets the job done. There also a photo of my moms 1957 iin the back. Girls like it because its not a macho truck, its probably one of the girliest cars ever. Whatever i love it. |

That's sexy man. I love a classic and I love a bug. I was totally hoping it was that colour orange too! My first car was a '77 Dodge Colt, but in poor condition (the coil spring broke going over a speed bump after a few months), so I can totally associate. |

Drive like the alpha of her tribe would. Using speakers and driving fast is only appealing to one type of women. But yeah, I think peacocking also applies to cars. |
