If I recall correctly, you used that opener before and posted about it. I think its a decent opener. And the fact that you told all three of them the same story could be viewed as good. to each one of them. If you were to talk to one of the girls again, you should point out the fact how odd it was that you approached her and her two friends. She should find that kind of neat, but make sure you have a plan about what to say if she askes what you did regarding the play. That will be a tough situation to fill, but i would probably just say "After being shot down by you and your two friends, I couldn't handle the rejections so I gave the tickets away, watched a chick flick and eat a whole carton of Ben and Jerry's ice cream." Make sure you seem playful and smile a lot when you say that and it will be golden.-SMARTS
