Post subject:  Day sarging the mall, whilst shopping

Went out to the shopping centre / mall. Considering I'm new to this I took it one step at a time. I started by saying simple hello's/ hi's.

I had bought myself some new shoes and down the centre of the shopping centre are these like little benches. Lots of people sit on them and there arn't always spaces. However, there was one spare space next to a hb7.5 - 8 brunette eating a salad out of a plastic tray. She was on her own and the space next to her was really one of the few spaces I could sit.

I sat next to her and made the excuse to sit so I could try on my new shoes. (Shoes for a suit and I'm wearing jeans). I got out the box and tried them on and I saw her glancing.

Me: they're for a charcoal coloured suit, yay or ney?
Hb7.5: yeah not bad
She said it whilst sort of putting her hand in front of her mouth as she was eating. I held my gaze on her a second too long as if to say I expected a slightly longer answer. She picked the other one out of the box
Hb7.5: yeah they look pretty smart
Me: Just pretty smart? You know how much they cost?
Hb7.5: No? (with a smile)
I didnt answer straight away I gave a little smile first
Me: £15 in the sale at burtons
Hb7.5: not bad she said

At that point I didnt know what to say to continue the chat. She seemed pretty compliant but I think she was just being friendly. I put the shoes back in the box and said it was nice talking to her and went on my way. I just wish I had thrown in a neg or someway to get some teasing going.

I then met up with my brother. We went in to Sports World. He was buying some new footy boots and I went to see if they had any Man Utd shirts on sale. Floating about was a definite hb8. Blonde hair tied up with a kind of a swooping fringe, a little petite but had some really nice sized boobs.

I carried on looking through the shirts and she came and negged me.

HB8: Not another Manu fan (she gave a good grin)
Me: What do you mean another...I am THEE manu supporter
HB8: (laughed) how so?
Me: Alex Ferguson is my uncle
She laughed as if to say yeah right
Me: why are you laughing, he is
HB8: okay
I laughed with her
Me: seriously he is, why are you laughing?
HB8: If he was, wouldn't you get a free shirt or something?
Me: I have, I'm not buying one I'm just looking
She looked over to my brother who was paying at the checkout.
HB8: and who's that?
Me: thats my brother, Alex Ferguson is his uncle too
...And then she shoved me playfully
Me: hey, that hurt...you always get this violent
But then there were some other customers and one of them was looking over as if to say they needed help.
She didnt say anything she just wondered over to them and I left with my brother. I was thinking of going back another day to see if she is there and pick up where I left off as I felt things were going really well.

Nice moves my friend, considering you're new to the game!

Sounds like you didn't have to try that hard, so that's a good start.

However, I think you've been lucky. Remember they aint all plain sailing - you do have to put effort into most, and also remember that there will be a fair deal of rejection. This is the learning curve which sounds like you haven't hit yet!

Shop assistants are paid to be friendly and helpful, but sounds like you carried the play on well.

I would make sure you don't go back for about a week - if you go in too soon, you will look a bit eager and you will reveal your game.

Another thing - make sure that if the shoes look good, don't say they came from a sale - make out you paid a lot for them to give her the impression you

1. Take care of yourself by buying quality and style.
2. Like to make a good impression on people.
3. Show that you aren't afraid to spend a little (even though you may not spend anything on her - remember it's the "impression" that counts)

Also, if she was eating, probably not a good time to start conversation. The fact of hand over mouth probably meant she didn't want to spit any out at you or your shoes!! This would have made her a bit uncomfortable. I know the whole three second rule, but sometimes it pays to wait a bit longer...

I would have said "No, I'm from the UK, plus I've got good taste - check out the shoes!"

Yeah, I think I have a fascination with hired guns. I suppose the AA is less when approaching them because I know they cant be that rude. Its a comfort zone for me and I need to step out of it.

The girl in sports world whilst very flirty, possibly wouldn't have been like that if she wasn't working...who knows, either way, negative thoughts arn't going to affect my game.

Just as it should be! In fact, I would say this is the perfect training ground. To be honest, she didn't have to engage you as much as she did, in fact, she didn't have to engage you at all so there was possibly something there to start with.

The fact you responded kept things going which is also good - a lot of guys think they have to open with a line, however they need to expect to be approached and respond to that approach as well - yes takes AA out of the equasion, but still need to keep a convo going!

Next time you see her, make sure you start the ball rolling and close before she has a chance to serve anyone else - hesitiation will mean you have to wait for another opportunity to get her number - she may get a bit bored by then!

Actually, make it sound like you are pressed for time and that you have just popped in to see if they sell "Alex Ferguson is my uncle" car window stickers. Firstly, if she didn't remember you, she will now and it will hopefully make her laugh a bit! When she says something like "I don't think we have those in stock" say "Well, perhaps I could get your number and call you to check when they will be then?"

Ker-ching - that's gotta be money in the bank!!

Good man!

Remember - make it fairly quick - lead like the alpha male shoud and close when you want to - don't get closed on! Also, being Saturday (and looking like rain) there will be a lot of shoppers, so I'm guessing fairly busy in there.

Don't forget to post back here with the results - keen to hear how it goes.

Good luck!

Yeah, the bumper sticker line sounds like an excellent idea!

Don't think it would work me saying 'Wenger's my uncle' though lol

Good luck mate, let us know how you get on!

She wasn't there yesterday morning, oh well. I'll catch her another time, and if I dont, its no big deal.
