Post subject:  How can I pick up girls coming in to my shop?
Right now working in a shop. Its the family business so if I try coming on to any girls that come in I run the risk of a.) not looking professional and b.) them not returning if they think they're going to get hit on if they come in again (not good for business). I don't want to loose customers so I've never tried hitting on any girls. To be honest I don't get many HB's come in. It's a pet supply shop so it's mainly old people, crazy people, smelly people, kids, parents etc.
What can I do to give off signals to any odd HB's that come in without loosing business.
The mad thing is, just as I was writing this a HB7 came in and asked how I was (I've never seen her before), she went to the back of the shop to see the dog groomer as she came out she asked if I wanted anything from the shop. im gonna get on this one. I'll let you guys know if any advances.

Shit!!! She came back in from the cafe across the road. I was all prepared to ask her how she knows the groomer and get chatting but she was on her fucking phone! All is not lost though. I got a feeling she is doing some work for the groomer so there'll be plenty of opportunities.

Can anyone help me with this issue? Just had a cute girl come in. I let the opportunity pass. How can I open and close without losing business and remaining subtle in the process?
If this helps the girl bought some hay, obviously for a rabbit. Could I use that as an opener? Ask her what kind of rabbit it is (not that I know shit about rabbits), how old blah blah. Where could I go from there? Tell her I want to see her rabbit?! Ha!!
Any pointers on this will be greatl appreciated.

I had the same problem, but after some thinking I think I have some guidelines to follow.

1) Don't come over as too professional, otherwise she will not see you as a potential b/f. Having said this, try to keep a degree of professionality about you, so she doesn't see you as a goof off.

2) It's not what you say (to a degree) but how you say it that counts. Make sure that everything you say is finished with a cheeky smile, so she knows you're a fun guy to be around. Also, ensure that you speak clearly, because it's quite embarrassing if she can't understand you!

3) Let her know when you're in the shop at the end, if she needs any help with any of the stuff, so she has an excuse to come back and see you, without having to admit to herself that she is just coming to see you!


I'll try and make this situational. Say she comes over to pay for hay for example:

You: 'Hay? Unusual for humans to live in barns nowadays y'know?' (Cheeky smile) That'll be $x please.'

Her: (Grins) Sure.

You: 'Do you want to know something interesting (touch yourself when you say interesting, NLP) about hay? (cheeky smile) Choking on hay is the number one killer in Moldova.'

Her: 'No way!/Really'

You: 'I swear, it's true! Look it up! Anyway here's your stuff. Now if you ever feel the urge to brush up on your hay knowledge, you know where to come.'

If you perform this right, then she should come back with positive connotations of you, and will be the one trying to talk to make conversation with you next time!

Cool, I like it. Do one more thing for me. Give me a situation if it was food, i.e. dog food, rabbit food, bird food, any food.
And what about a number close situation? What if its a girl Ive never seen before and potentially might not come back again, like she might be buying something for some one else and she doesnt have animals?

Well if you take the example of bird food, dog food, cat food etc, you might want to comment on how she can buy much nicer tasting food down the street at the supermarket (make sure she knows you're referring to her!) Since you work in a pet store, this kind of technique can be used a lot, that is, joking that whatever she buys is for her own personal use, but again, make sure you don't come across neither too serious, nor too cocky :)

As for the number closing on girls who may not come back, then it's important to build as much comfort as possible. Comment on her dress, shades, whatever, say that you like them (rapport) Then, confide to her about something embarrassing that happened to you regarding that item, not too weird though(trust)!

If the girl is working for the groomer... go ask the groomer whats up with her.... serioulsy, its not that hard. Just be more flirty with girls when they come in. Girls love to be flirted with anytime of the day. Besides its a family store, so what is your family going to do? Fire you? :roll:

The girl with the groomer was a friend of hers. I asked her as she was walking out but was didnt stop walking she just said it over her shoulder as she was leaving. I could have called her back I know but to be honest I didnt really give a shit, I cant be dealing with the groomer getting into a discussion about me hitting on her pal. I hate that shit, and as you said, its a family business I cant stand it when my mum teases me about chatting up girls or what ever.
And yes DJ, thats cool man, I like that one. When the time is right I shall try it out. As it says in my original post there's not very many hotties that come in (its like hot chicks dont own animals or something), but Im gonna test it on random uglys that come in. Even if its old women, just to gauge the type of response I get.
I'll let you know.
