Background: I am an office worker / art student in San Francisco. In order to afford anything, I live in a residential hotel downtown. It's just a room, community shower and no kitchen. I plan to set the room up with nice furniture and an entertainment system, but the fact is that no matter how nice the inside, it is still in a crumby neighborhood and no bigger than the rooms we grew up in as kids. (Though not as small as most residential hotel rooms) I have considered the option of getting a room for rent in a nicer house in a nicer part of town. So far I have yet to find a place that is within a reasonable price range |

Material shit. It's only a big deal if you make it one... I've brought girls back to my mothers house, and the room I was staying in was messy as hell, and they never made a big deal of it. Just have fun! |

Thanks. That has always been an issue for me. I would always think, "So let's say I get a girl, am I supposed to bring her back to my Crap Shack?!" |

Haha. Believe me, if they come home with you it'll be a hard task to put them off... as long as the place isn't really smelly or there's half eaten pizza on the floor or some shit you'll be fine. Theoretically I've got a lot working against me, but I turn everything around and make it work in my favour. Not having a car is a big problem, but because it's not by choice girls don't really mind that much. Just remember, if you show her that you're unhappy about something in your life she will feel the same way about it. If you think your place is crappy then so will she. Enjoy what you have and keep the money you have for going out at night, instead of using it to get a nicer place. |

what about self-respect and self pride? I'd be working or schooling to get my own place or move into a house with 2-4 roommates. Hostel type living is for the adventurer and the folk starting out (though I've seen the ones that call it home). You may want to consider moving up even if its only one step. Sounds like you live in the area that Milhouse's father lives. I'm living in the university area in my city. I'm paying $300mth in a 6 bedroom house. Summer sublets are usually cheaper that regular rents. Best of Luck |
