| Post subject: | Cool leatherjacket and slick mafia-style hair?Where/how? |
Hey guys... I know theres better places within this forum to post this Q, but since im not allowed until ive got 30 posts and i dont wanna flood, please help me out... Also, tried the search but got like 400+ hits... Anyway, i want a leather/suede jacket. I usually wear jeans and sneakers, plus a cool t-shirt so a leatherjacket with a hood is more my style than Armani-stuff, and dont feel the need to spend all my money on this one item either (MAX 300$)... But, i might consider anything if its cool enough Also, lately ive started wearing my hair slick backwards (not rockabilly, more mafia, sortof like mike patton ) but cant seem to find a gel that works without having a stiff, ugly-ass "harihelmet". Anyone with the same style got any tips?? it needs to have some hold, though... Thanks!! |

Can't give any pointers on the hair gel, but DON'T get a leather jacket with a hood on it. Hoodless. Hoodless. Fonzie didn't wear a hood. Zuko didn't wear a hood. None of pop culture's cool leather jacket antiheroes had hoods. And a small caveat; if you're gonna go for the '50s greaser look, you better REALLY be able to sell it or do it with a healthy dose of irony, because if you can't pull that look off it's gonna get you laughed at a lot, which is only gonna hurt your game in the end. If you can make it work for you, though, that'll get a LOT of good attention. |

Haha! Well, im gonna have to start off by pointing out that im not going for the fifties-rockabilly, or the fonz-look, so im thinking a bit more modern than that. Both with the hairstyle and the jacket... Second, im not talking about like the hippety hop-style leather hood-jacket! My ex-gf had a cool one i borrowed before, and it was classy, taylor made (for whom i dont know, it was a mans-jacket And finally, i will consider any smooth leatherjacket, but with a hood is more my style and more congruent, i think. Plus, here not too many people have it, although alot has leatherjacks, so i think it will set me abit aside. As for the hair, i have also gotten some good feedback, and it gives me a different posture/attitude than bedhead/caps/whatever. Its not as slick as the patton-pic, just combed backwards. its a bit formal, and a tad sleezy that i calibrate down with the rest of my style. IMO. |

Oh, okay, so you're not just kinda jumping into this 'cause it seemed like a good idea, this is stuff you've tested before and you know what you're doing. There you go--work it out. |
