I dont if this will help or not. When I first moved the area i was a shy guy, I could talk to girls...online...met a ton using ICQ ( Back when it was popular...Id meet girls the same day I talked to them ) But still had approach anxiety. Always hung back waited to be pursued. It happen, but not as often as Id liked. I landed this job @ sams club as a electronics salesman. They have this rule. its called the 10 ft. rule. You see a customer within 10 ft you approach and ask them if you can help em, etc. Being in the sales dept. Sales is a must. So I had to utilize the 10 ft rule. I approached everyone that was in my dept. Eventually I learned more convo skills, shoot the shit with em, and tryin to sell @ the same time. I ended up being the lead in electronics for sells. 8 of 10 people I talked into buyin a 2,000$ plasma or computer. I also landed a job @ a telemarketin place doin inbound cs calls. So I had no choice but to talk to people over the phone, bout their problems and tryin to resolve them, etc. Right now I just got this job @ a retail store selling shoes...80% of their sales is females. ( Been out of work since I left my ex-wife. B/C We worked @ the same place and I didnt wanna be around her... ) But threw my exp tho, I realize now I was a pivital point of my life...I could chat up anyone with 10 ft. If you have a mediocre job and get land something like that, that requires you to provide customer service, inner-acting with people then I believe it will help with your AA...But you dont really have to change jobs, or get one of those...just use the same concept as the 10ft rule. You all prob already knew this tho. Maybe it will help. (Damn Im addicted to TheGame and I havent even gone out alot yet...lol just reading all this stuff has got me pumped up...) |

Wow, we have the real life 40 year old virgin here! Cool! Did you work with a guy who told you about the Tijuana donkey show? All kidding aside, I think that is good advice. If you can make good conversation you can get laid. |

The best job for this is a nightclub photographer, working for a magazine or website. Hours are terrible, pay is'nt great. And you got to find a decent employer. But either way good for becoming PUA new to the game or not. Salesman is a great job too, there was this mobile phone salesman stood outside a shop the other day stopping people in the street. He said to the other guy 'look its easy, have a go'. I stopped to watch for obvious reasons. |

Anything to do with sales is a great way to get used to approaching and communicating with people. Another good job to get over that is serving. |

I'm hoping this summer to get a job either as a sales rep at BJs or as a waiter at TGI Fridays. Though no one likes to hire a waiter with no experience |

Do you have any work exp at this point? Or would this be your first job? Ive had a shit ton of jobs and never had a problem getting them. What always worked for me was telling them what they wanted to hear. What kind of person do they want to hire? Someone who is great with people and kids? Can handle upsetting situations where a customer may be mad? How would you work with other people? As a team? Most companies look for these types of qualities. *Attendance - Will there be a problem? *Customer Service - Customer is ALWAYS right in their eyes. Thats how they make business. *Team Players - They dont want drama. simply put. How well would you handle a situation if another employee fucks up for you? *Honesty - They dont want theives. *Availability - How well can you flex your time for them...Not the other way around. If you cant work their schedule, then they will find someone that will. ( Most companies do understand situations and will work around them, let them know up front tho. ) *Ability to Move up. - How long will you work for us. I usually say something like, Im not looking for another job, but a career. I want advancement. That shows them your motivated. (JCPenny Founder once said: "Give me a stock clerk with a goal and ill give you a man that will make history, give me a man with no goals and ill give you a stock clerk") With that being said would you mind working as a cook, or dishwasher, host if available? I would, but id let me know up front where id like to be. Work your way there if nothing else. Ask questions about how to do stuff. Most will teach you. Then badda-bing! Theres a call off and no other waiters want to come in?! Manager thinks theres johnnie he knows how to work orders, computer, make drinks. Next thing you know they are asking you to cover. Then fill in some shifts, then be full time waiter. |

Front desk clerk at a hotel. Not a MOTEL--a hotel. The bigger and higher-end, the better, because that means you'll come in contact with a much more varied group of people. I worked front desk for a year at a busy three-star full-service hotel (six months on night shift, six months on day), and I learned a LOT about interacting with people on all levels. I mean, we everybody there, from the lowest forms of life--the drug dealers who wanted to impress their pickups and paid with marijuana-stenched wads of cash, drunken fight-happy fratboys with wedding parties, tranny hookers trying to hide their johns--to the most prestigious who come through this town--touring big-name celebrities, political dignitaries, powerful business moguls--and it not only taught you many different ways of handling people (front desk works with not just the guests, but is the liaison to every other department in the joint), but the power of good connections and it forced you to learn to be quick on your feet, because you NEVER knew what might happen from one moment to the next. And occasionally the odd hottie would come in and throw IOIs over the desk because she likes guys in suits who have a little power. Not a bad gig. You work like a DOG for not enough pay, but there are worse jobs. |

I made a typo. I already work at BJs. Been there almost 3 years XD. I've been cashier, Self-checkouts, and now currently learning Customer service. I'm deffinately going to take that in with me when I go in to Friday's. Thanks a lot! |
