I have always thought that spending too much money on a first date is the wrong thing to do because she will expect me to spend that much money everytime the 2 of us go out, that usually sets the standard for the rest of my dates with her. I feel only AFCs rely on spending alot of money in order to close the deal, PUAs rely on game.
I know a guy who has a rule of not spending more than $40 on a date and he is very good with women. He also says if women want to be treated equal as some always preach then they should pay half.

What's your take on this?

No, you pay for YOUR half. She pays hers. When you have been going out for a while with a girl, then sure you can alternate, but otherwise, go dutch.

This is a cardinal rule, everyone and every style agrees on this from what I've seen.

To elaborate for those who still don't seem to know. Paying for meals, drinks, gifts etc is a HUGE dating no-no. Why? Well there are many reasons, but the most compelling is the social principle of "obligation". Ivy league universitiy studies on the principle of obligation have shown that when a person feels obligated to reciprocate an unrequested favor, that person will feel as if their basic human freedoms are being restrained, being obligated to someone creates these feelings of tension, and a person will in almost every case EXCEED the value of one such unrequested favor simply to be rid of the obligation and regain their freedom.

Car salesmen use this tactic while negotiating a price, have you ever had a salesman get up to go talk to his manager to get the final word on your negotiating price, only to come back and give you a soda or something, saying the machine gave him two? This is the salesman utilizing the principle of obligation, by doing a small favor he can compel you to psychologically feel obligated to him, and I'll bet that someone is more likely to accept the "lowest possible" offer if accepting such a counter-offer relieves that person of the obligation to the salesman.

At any rate. Paying for meals creates a hostile feelings in women. You are in a sense forcing them to submit to you by feeling obligated to you since you are paying. This is why so many guys freak out when a woman won't put out after he's bought her dinner, presents and drinks - he thinks that financial investment in her means she has to reciprocate by getting sexual with him, and when she doesn't it blows his mind.

By going dutch, you are showing that you respect her freedom, while at the same time demonstrating a lack of neediness - I find that women today secretly love when a guy doesn't even offer to pay and just assumes that she is investing in him, as much as he is investing in her.

See where I'm going?

well since you taking her out, you should hold responsibility of paying
but like they say only pay your half and trying to spend maximum of $70
girls will appropriate you more

u r not taking her out, u r going out with her.
or just hanging out. what i do is i always say i am like broke, but i smile about it and play it off like i dont care if i am poor. (some people who know they r poor look down on themselves and are ashamed at the fact that they cant buy the girl a brand new outfit on the first date and the women pick up on that).

if u say u have no money and play it off cool, it appears mysterious and that u probably r ballin, but smart with money, the women see that and try to investigate....
