Ok, at work I have to go over to another department, lots of women in glass cubicle type of offices. I walk by and there are a couple that I make some good eye contact with and get a smile and they will wave. Do I wave back when they do? I did smile this time & wave . Its not really a situation where i can go in and talk because they are usually with a client. Hopefully not all is lost and I looked like too much of a dork by waving, because this other woman about 18 years younger than me called out my name and I stopped right in front of their glass cubicle and we started talking and laughing and she walked on by with me. But do you wave when there is a glass barrier, or just smile only even when they wave? |

As a general rule of thumb in interactions: Mirror the other person. The Golden Rule applies to male/female interactions. Women do unto men as they would have men do unto them. If they wave, you can wave. If they laugh, you can laugh. The glass barrier isn't a problem- if you can see through it, it's not really a barrier, is it? |

Thanks, Its just a barrier to speaking, if it wasn't there, I'd have said hi. |
