Post subject:  Observing the field for the first time

A co-worker of mine was having a wedding party at a local posh hotel, I've been working all week on an outfit that would be alpha-male like. New jeans, belt w/buckle (REACTION written on it). A brown hollister T-shirt under a pink LaCoste polo. I also put on a fine pin-stripe blazer. I also wore my long light-brown leather jacket and matching Docker style shoes (polished). Drakkar Noir for scent. I figured I'd be different and have a look of confidence. I avoided wearing a hat because A) I don't have one and 2) Most bars do not allow hats in my neck of the woods. I wear prescription glasses, have short brown hair with short sideburns that end at the bottom of my ears. I also have a goat-tee.

Upon arrival I noticed a lot of people were dressed like me with a similar belt jeans and blazer.

I walked in the room with a smile. I was greeted by another co-workers fiance HB7. She was enthusiastic and overwhelming. (It was my second time meeting her, and the first was so long ago I didn't even know who she was). She then started talking to me about everything, she said blah blah blah. I stopped talking and gave direct eye contact and held it for about 7 seconds to practice building tension. I was sitting at that point and she was standing up while we were talking. She also would "accidently" bump her knee on mine. I think I saw some IOI's right away, even though barely said a thing thus far. I know her and her BF fight a lot.

Anyways I saw another girl staring at me from my peripheral. But I didn't have a routine thought out yet to try an interaction.

I was totally not expecting to be overwhelmed by this chick approaching me I guess I was caught off guard. Is this a normal situation to get into?

Also how does my wardrobe sound?

ur wardrobe sounds good, similar to me i like the alphamale clothing and am less fond of peacocking but wat i find good is if u dress alphamale but have 1 thing which is peacock this sets u out from the crowd without making u look wierd and thats an imediate advantage to picking up women, part of being a good pua is being comfortable in all situations and being ready with routines and openers, u will probably find that if u go over and open the conversation, if u have confidence the conversation will just flow, sounds like ur doing well with the eye contact but i wouldnt advise trying to pick up your co-workers fiance. good luck u sound like u will be a good pick up artist
