Hmm good question. I always hear from people that I'm such a funny guy, so I consider myself as a natural at this part. I think humour isn't one funny comment, it's a mindset. I know, this sounds a bit lame but it really is. There are a lot of different types of humour, here's a couple of things I do often: * Sarcastic humour. Just be sarcastic in a fun way sometimes, it's hilarious. One thing I really like to do is to act like you think someone is lying about something he/se says, but when it really doesn't matter. Such as: He/She: So I went to the mall today You: Yeah right like i'm supposed to believe that. BL and face/tone expressions are very important. Act like you're really serious and it will work, if you're acting like HEY I MADE A GOOD JOKE it will irritate people. Also things like make up a story but be very confincing, and when she's says "really?" you make fun of her by saying you can't believe she actually believed it. Again, it's really a mindset. If you're really believe in your stuff people will accept it. But just don't make jokes and wait for their respond. I struggled with that a lot myself and I realised that it's just better to not to care about how people will think about your jokes. I also make a lot of jokes by using language and stuff, but I really don't know how I can teach you to learn that. |

Oh, btw. If you're asking a bit more specific questions it's a lot easier for us to come with good advice. |

What do you find funny? Your humor should be an extension of your own personality and your own sense of humor. Everybody has a sense of humor. Use yours to figure out what you should try to do. |

If you want funny may I also recommend listening to Bob Newhart's early standup which is some of the funniest while most genuine work ever done in the humor tradition of the English language. Aside from that there's 70's George Carlin, then theres early Bill Cosby, then there's early Eddy Murphy, then theres Dave Chappelle. Enjoy. |

I m curious how u do that.Ok, the way i make jokes i think it's just a way to look at life. It sounds corny, but it really is. When someone tells me I always look on other meanings of the word. For example, I was watching tv with a couple of friends and on a commercial for an program they were telling about Biological parents. I said oh I don't have biological parents, I have battery cage parents. I don't know if you get the joke cause the meaning lost in the translation i think. That's because I used the word biological from parents to use it in a way of eggs (but do biological eggs excist as a word in English?). An other thing I really like to do is to say contradicting things. I think this one is better to explain and for you to understand (if you're smart enough "Women always use generalizations" And when someone ask you what's a good about you (in a way like good listener, funny etc), I say something like: "Well my friends told me I can think for myself so that's a good one." I hope this helps you a bit more. Wow now i'm typing this I think I know how it's for you. It's very hard to explain this stuff. But in general humour is most of the times a contradicting or an unusal thing, that's what makes it funny. I always try to make POSITIVE humour or sarcastic but I never make racial jokes cause they're just not funny. The only thing they show is that you're an pathetic loser. Cause that's what racists are. I like to tell my boss in a funny way to say that he has to work harder (to turn the tables hehe). However, i'm dutch. A famous dutch song says: (about the Netherlands) A country full of protesting groups, no manager is really the boss. So if you're a Japanese I don't think that would be the smartest thing to say lol. Oh, while writing I remember a specific situation. When you're at a supermarket and one counter don't have a row, always go to that one. If it's a pretty girl you can easily tease her by saying oh I feel bad for you, nobody wants to stand in your row. You should smile more. I did that one a couple of days ago and that girl was stalking me yesterday lol. People often say to me that they can't tell whether I'm joking or not. That's very useful i found out: *You show that you don't care if they don't like your joke *It will give the joke more meaning and tension *People don't know they're being fooled. I always have a great time when I'm making fun of someone and he/she 's the only one who doensn't know it. Yesterday when I was at a pub I pretend to be very angry at a stranger cause he pointed at me. As i was telling him about how rude it is I was constantly pointing at him. All his friends were laughing and he didn't know it. Even his GF was making fun of him, and she searched my attention. But i felt a bit bad for the kid so my friend and I were about to leave. She said: "no don't leave." and I said if you know my name I stay (i didn't gave it to anyone). She knowed my name so I said wow that's creepy I think I go cause I don't want to be stalked AGAIN. Again they laughed but I did go, cause I felt hard for the kid Wow this is actually quite a long post, I just can't get enough of humour |

Thank you Gulias. I think I understood what u mean. I think my problem is that i use 3 languages every day. In school i speak croatian, at home i speak korean and i use english on computer, so what do u think i should do? Read croatian books and watch croatian comedies? Sometimes my friends say something funny with croatian word that its not used everyday so coz i dont know that word its not funny for me. And also one friend makes fun with funny adjectives. So I think my problem is that I cant make jokes with only common words. What do u think I should do? |

Well I don't know what your situation is. Do you want to live in Croatie the rest of your life? I think the most logical thing to do is to master the language you wanna be funny in. But remember, language isn't the only funny thing. You can also make more physical jokes. Like if someone ask you something and you didn't hear them ask "what did you say" while walking away. I always love to do that but maybe it's because I'm twisted hehe. And look at people like WHAT's WRONG WITH YOU if they say something they did what's a bit weird. Oh, this one I read a while ago. I don't know where I got it from but It's very hilarious to do. Look at someone (preferably a girl you know) and look at her very angry. Just at the moment she almost be like dude what's your problem do a very childish ![]() It breaks people out their routines, LOVE IT! Language humour is very hard, and if you have no sense at humour at this point at all it's better to start light. Watching comedies is very good, but don't be a copycat. It's better to understand what's funny about the joke instead of reply the joke in front of your friends. |

Humour is probably the hardest thing to learn, I guess. Fortunately I'm a natural, I just love it when people laugh with my jokes and I easily adapt my jokes to the group I'm with. The tricky thing about humour is that everybody has their own sense of humour. That's why u can't really say "do this or do that". U gotta learn how far u can go with your jokes. |
