Hey all! Okay, I've got a simple question to ask: Does "cold-approaching" on Facebook almost never work? You know, I come up with some sort of opener, message a girl I don't really know (or know only very little, maybe met only 1-3 times and haven't really talked much), then she doesn't reply. I have attempted to "field-test" this opener: -------- Hi! I like Facebook but am not really addicted to it so I'm not usually here and I'm turning this off in a while. Yet here's a survey-of-sorts, really just for the fun of it. The behavior of a friend, Ralph, amused me. One time, we wondered if we were going to have class in a room, and there was I think only one person in there and she was our classmate, I think. I said to him why don't you go ask her if there's class. It was as if he was determined to go and do so, but some strange force held him back, and he was smiling at me without a word. So I had to be the one to do it. What was this about? What should he do the next time this comes up? I'll probably like your advice but maybe not buy it (sorry, I'm stubborn), yet maybe you're good at this somehow. Smile and share and a thought. -------- Maybe you've noticed, but in here I tried to employ some "techniques" - that is, the "Neg", the "False Time Constraint", the referring-to-friend-by-name thing in the Mystery book, a "cold read", etc. So I've tried to combine multiple techniques in one line. Why did this fail? Is it simply because she doesn't really know me, or is there something I am missing, or is wrong, in my "opener"? Next I tried this one: --- Hi! I'm conducting a simple survey. What is the corniest superhero name - Superhero Man, The Party Animal, Trash, Chocolate Man, Josh. Arrange from least-corniest to most-corniest. Thanks! --- I haven't put as much thought into this, but maybe because it was shorter, I was thinking it might work. It hardly did. I messaged like 5 or 6 girls and only one responded, and only in a very succinct manner. Again, is there something wrong with the opener, or is Facebook Game rather useless as a whole? Keep in mind again that all of the girls I messaged here are people I hardly (or not actually) know personally. I used to add random friends in Facebook before that's why I have "friends" who I don't know personally (though we have mutual friends). What do you think of all this? Personally, at first, it made me feel like a weirdo. I was even highly nervous and anxious, because I feared that they might tell their friends that this weirdo (by my name) messaged them and it might harm my reputation somewhat but...bah. What do you think? Will it really make me a weirdo? Is this something that I should avoid? Will it compromise how people perceive me? Thank you! Regards, Lonious |

Delete. All. Of. It. It makes you look like a desperate weirdo. Facebook is only decent if you have met the girl and established a flirty vibe. Women also hate being told to smile. I cringed at the line "smile and share a thought". It sounds like something a serial killer would say trying to lure a victim. You also said you're sorry, which women also hate to hear unless theyre a relationship and a guy messed up. |

Is that long message the first thing you tell her? wow What i say is "hi, new friend" or a corny joke. |
