Post subject:  Going into the comfort phase too soon?

Met a girl a few months ago at a French-learning class where she was the cashier. She's about 20, 6 years my junior. I approach, do a few BS openers but make small talk and leave it at that. As I'm about to leave, she asks when my class meets again (I tell her) and she murmurs something about changing her schedule to work that day.

I meet her next week and start asking personal question (I know) and try to ask her out, getting her number. she doesn't respond at all.

Flash forward to last week, I meet a NEW girl, but she looked so young I couldn't tell if she's still in high school or not (She's a sophomore in college). She's been giving me indicators of interest HARD, batting eyelashes, smiling ear to ear, etc. To gauge how old she is I ask her if she was in college, and from there, it was like a switch turned off. No more smiles, interest faded. It was like pouring a bucket of water on a fire.

Is personal questions something that should ALWAYS be saved until the first date, or after a girl is "hooked"? I'm just starting out, so any help would be appreciated.

Personal questions are fine as long as they are appropriate for the moment. However, two girls isn't enough for you to figure out if there is a problem because of your questions.

Sounds like you gave up, or misinterpreted.

That's a very low key personal question and something any stranger could ask another stranger.

Whatever turned her off, it wasn't that question.
