| Post subject: | Responding to peacock abuse? |
Hey guys, Got a question about AMOGing. I tend to peacock a bit when I go out and my major draw piece is my hair. I have an individual /uncommon hair style which I think (and have been told) I wear quite well. I usually get an average of about three or so favorable comments on it each time I go out -usually from random people. However, I do come across the odd person who has an issue with my hair who says something along the lines of -'nice hair -did you have to plug yourself into a wall socket /electrocute yourself to do that..?' or something along those lines. I was thinking of responding with 'yeah I.. er accidently.. dropped the hair drier in the sink when I was getting ready...' but I can't figure out if this is DLV or not as I'm kind of putting myself down a bit and making myself seem less alpha by saying that I use a hairdrier (which I want to just make clear I don't! Question is: a). How would you respond to the above. b). How do you guys handle people saying things about your peacocking (either positive or negative). b.t.w: If a girl says something positive about my hair and I've developed some connection with her I usually say thanks and then go into a DHV story of how I like to be creative and individual -which I find works well. |

Be aware of the negative comment but ignore it at the same time. Don't let it affect you. |

one of the KEY points about peacocking is it shows you are man enough to pull it off so like the other guy, is important to show it is not impacting you what other people says like water to a duck's back |

I would tell that person: "Thx man...., ehhrmm I dont electrocute myself to style my hair thats just so weird... you do?" If he keeps on going, just make it clear to him, that he has no idea of fashion. If a girl comes up with a positive comment, give her the best smile u have and sarge her lol. I totally agree on the comments above aswell, "dont let words affect you too much". Show them that ur the man =P |

I'd answer with something like: "yeah I do, you should see how I clean my teeth" The way I see it, you should ignore the fact they are trying to insult you and react as if a friend said it to you as a playful thing. If you act as though he's being nice then it should disarm him and make it difficult for him to continue on the insult thread. |

The fact that you care what people think about whether you use a hairdryer or not is silly. Why would it matter if you did or didn't? I wear a bit of perfume, but it drives chicks wild, because it smells like I've been with other women. Who the fuck cares what anyone else thinks, you're secure in who you are! Especially if it's just a joke. You can say all sorts of self depricating things when you are joking, because it shows that you are alpha enough to be secure in who you are and don't give a shit what others think. It's a DHV, not a DLV. |

"Were you born with that face, or did you get beat as a child?" Kinda harsh, but I like it |

You reply with "cool man" then ignore them. |

I see a lot of people attacking the guys that try to AMOG them, cause that's what this is. That is the wrong way to deal with it in my opinion. I NEVER attack a guy when he AMOGs me, I make him my BEST friend. You start buddying up to the guy, throw a few negs at him to throw him off balance and before you know it, you're walking him off a cliff without him even realising it before it's too late. Ever watched Willy Coyote or some other cartoon character do this? That's just what it's like! You see the look in their eyes as they look down and realise they're about to fall. Then they just turn and walk away with their head hung. Chicks love it, it's funny and you weren't a dick, so it doesn't even matter if they're best friends, you just showed your social skills and sense of humor. |

Don't even entertain a comment like that. It's obviously not part of your program (you know your hair is the shit and it's part of your strategy) to think negatively about your hair, so just ignore it and move on. A way to turn the situation around? Accept the comment, without getting defensive! Say something to make it funny "oh yeah, you should've seen those sparks! *laugh laugh*", continue the conversation! =) --MichaelAngelo |

| Post subject: | Cool insights |
Cool thanks for the tips and insights guys -I've got some stuff to chew over now In future tho, I'm hoping to try and take it one step further -to the effect of what Rye Lee was talking about in his second post. As in, show that it dosn't affect me -make the guy a 'best friend' then steal his value by tossing a few negs and 'walking him off the cliff' lol. I think I got a bit of work a head of me yet to get there tho -but thats the fun of it ey? P.S: I did like the lines that you guys came up with as well. Cheers. |
