Post subject:  Gaming a hot 10 Romanian Girl went wrong
I went to a hookah bar/lounge last night. Next to my table, a 6 set came in and sat down which consisted of two girls, and four guys. I immediately identified my target as this hot 10 blonde. She was sitting pretty close to where my seating was in position to their table, so it was obvious that she could notice me if she looked around the bar. Now, I was there with my wing, and we tried to keep our social proof positive by keeping ourselve engaged and not bothering at looking at any hot girls walking in into the lounge. But in the corner of my peripheral vision, and using the help of my wing who could directly observe what was going on over my shoulder on the other table, tried to find out what the relationship was of the target with the guys, i.e. was one them her boyfriend?

Now, I would have opened the 6-set but after observing how obnoxious and loud/rude talking the guys were in the set (crazy Russians), I just felt that it would go no where in trying to talk eloquently with these rambling idiots. It then came apparent that the other girl was with one of the guys, but the target was not in any boyfriend type relationship with any of the other guys so to speak. This is because, the target seemed less engaged with what was going on in the crowd, seemed bored, played with her cellphone, and had no such physical contact with any of the guys. If she was going out with any one of them, there would be kissing or some form of holding hands phenomenon. But there were non whatsoever.

The girl kept getting up and going outside to the outside table area. I observed that she did this a lot. So I suggested to my wing that we go outside and sit there, and wait when she comes out. We went out, seemed engaged, and after a while, the target came out again. She sat by herself alone at a table playing with her cellphone. A couple of AFCs tried to hit on her but she put on her bitch shield and ignored them. So I knew that I had to get her shield down and open it with Negs, and Neg her hard. Thus, came my approach:

I pretended I was on the cellphone talking to my friend so I came up to the table where she was sitting, had my back positioned to hers, and pretended I was just finishing up a conversation on the cellphone. I turned, looked over the shoulder, and openened it like this:

Me: "Quick question, why is it that you always look so bored, and the type of girl that appears to have no fun in her life?"

Target: "Did we see each other tonight?"

Me: "Perhaps. You were with some friends sitting right next to us."

Target: "No, did we see each other before coming to this place?"

Me: "No."

Target: "Then how do you know that I am ALWAYS bored."

Me: "It's nice that you act like a smart alec, but at this time and place, you are bored and it's very apparent."

Target: "This is not my scene."

Me: "Oh yeah? What exactly is your scene?"

Target: "Downtown clubs and bars."

Me: "That's why you and me would never get along. I like this sheer cultural beats that this place has to offer. You like the wild party style vibe that those downtown clubs have to offer."

At this point, she looks down and keeps playing with her cellphone. I knew this was an IOD. One problem too was that I was standing and she was sitting. Since I'm new to this, subconsciously, I wasn't aware of this.

Me: "Ah, the girl who can't get enough of her cellphone. You seem like the one who has nothing to do, and your friend (the other girl) seems like she knows how to have a good time."

Target: "That's not my friend. I just met her tonight. I just came out with all my guy friends that I know to just hang out."

Me: "You have this thick accent, that causes you to wiggle your nose everytime you speak. Oh, look, there you did it again. Where you from?"

Target: "I'm from Romania."

Me: "What's your name?"

Target: "Natalia."

I reach out to shake her hand and notice she has black nail polish.

Me: "Natalia. You are like the 10th girl from Eastern Europe that has that same name. What's wrong? Do they have a low name vocabulary in Romania or something. And do all Romanian girls such as yourself wear black nail polish and wiggle their noses."

Target: "Maybe. I come from a small town in Romania so everyone knows everyone thing."

Me: "What do you do out here?"

Target: "I go to college. Studying business."

Me: "Where do you see yourself going with that?"

Target: "You know, just go with flow and see where it takes me."

Me: "Sweetie, that's the most absurd attitude to take in life. One needs to make goals in order to attain them. Believe me, I'm getting my Masters in Economics. I know this shit."

Target: "I like Economics."

Me: "Too bad you didn't choose it ha! You went to business, the easy way out."

Plays with her cellphone still. I decide I'm just losing value standing and talking to this girl so I signal my wing to meet me, and pretend to engage him and just lose interest in the target. I just had IODs all night. After that, she gets up and leaves.

WHAT WENT WRONG? My wing gave me props for going out and taking the first step in approaching a target that happened to be a 10. He counseled me in saying that this was our first time and it's all a learning experience. I agree to that, but I have read Mystery's and Style's books. I have watched videos inside out. I know the material. But it seemed like my game didn't work. I knew the target had her bitch shield way high up and thought I needed to approach using a Neg. In fact, attacking her with a lot of Negs. But that didn't seem to work. She felt like stuck up, emotionless, no laughs or smiles; just a girl occupied by her cellphone.
I guess I should have brought in my wing and opened with an OPINION opener. But why? Why couldn't this work. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks for reading my story.

Negs have to be used with care. Some of the negs you used could have easily be construed as outright insults. You never neg a girl on her career choices. That's a very sensitive subject for most people. Everyone likes to think they're making the right decisions in life. When you told her she took the easy way out, you basically called her lazy.

Personally, I think opening up with negs was a bit pointless. It's hard to show disinterest to a lone girl, because it's already quite obvious why you're talking to her, especially since you approached her. You also waited for the other AFC's to take a crack at her, so her shields were up even more, which made it harder for you. You should have opened her with a simple question, done some routine (cube, strawberry), and tried to engage her that way. If she told you to f*ck off, THEN you could have negged her.

She told you some things about herself, so you could have used them to connect. She felt out of place at the hookah bar, so she would have latched onto someone with similar interests to keep her occupied.

From what I'm seeing in some of these Field Reports, a few of the guys don't quite understand the purpose of negs. They're not some magical tool that will suddenly get a girl interested in you. They're carefully placed comments that lowers the girl's status, when she's trying to size you up (when she's negging you). But everyone has a certain level of self-esteem, and when you neg a person below that level she will get defensive. Mystery explains that you should neg a girl to the brink, and then show approval. It's a tricky thing, and should only be used when they've opened up to you somewhat.

Update: I just wanted to add some more details on negging. Looking back through the Venusian Handbook, negging is used to attack a girl's insecurity. HOWEVER, they're supposed to be used in a casual way. She can't think you were deliberately throwing her a neg. You just neg her and move on; quickly change the subject.

When you threw the neg, I read it almost as a challenge to her.
