Post subject:  Practicing pickup at home?
OK so I am new to this field, and I have tons of material to start practicing with, but I would think that I could be practicing at home. Just pretending that I am talking to women, almost like I am practicing for an acting position, or a play. You know going over the lines verbally and inside my mind. Even using my visualization. Do you guys do this and do you find that it helps?

although the way the original post presents the situation is cringeworthy, you CAN practice at home. but not by reading a script "Hi, how are you?" "good, thank you" " "I like your dress" "thank you, I like your suit"
"do you want to hang out sometime?" "sure, here is my number" "thank you, I saved your number in my flip phone and I will call you"

to practice at home, you have to close your eyes and just imagine a scenario that you are in. You could be at the bar, or at the grocery store, whatever. Then, in your imagination, you do all the stuff. you stop the girl, you talk to her, she responds back. if you dont like the way you did something in your imagination (for example, you were too needy) go back and correct it.

You know even I have to admit in re-reading my post how it could be cringe worthy. But at the end of the day IMO it's probably best to suck it up, and practice at home while also racking up points in the field. After all using visualization and imagination is nothing new. It's even being used in competitive sports to give players just a slightly better cutting edge in there game.

I mean... you can practice nonverbals in the mirror...and the way you talk (practicing a deep voice) but you have to get in the field at some point..there is no better teacher

Unless you live somewhere in which there aren't a direct source of people outside of your door or a few miles down the road why would you decide to sit at home and practice anything as opposed to getting out their and getting real experience ?

Whatever that home practice involves will not change the natural apprehension you'll feel before approaching. If you want to practice at home which I think is silly, master approaching with hesitation first. Lines aren't of use if you can't approach.
