I lift at a hardcore gym, owner is former IFBB pro, and people train there for bodybuilding competitions. That said, there's alot of serious lifting there, its a close community and everyone in there knows each other. I've been a regular there for 2 years now, so I do know most the people. So three weeks ago, on Thursday I see this HB10 training her HB7 friend, neither of which I recognized. I made some joke to her about "my arms aren't big enough to flex in a mirror yet", and went back to my sets. I left while she was still lifting. 2nd week, the 10 training the 7 again, and I notice her phone on an empty machine, so I pointed it out. She was cordial and nice, but I was just being nice. I went back to my sets and never looked/said another thing to her that day. 3rd week, Thursday, they're both there again, and she's training a guy who's 6'2 220 solid who I know performs in competitions. So just the 4 of us. I said hi to him when he came near me at the dumbbell rack, solid eye contact, but I was more focused on crushing my workout. About 10min later, my former trainer comes in (a former Mr.Ohio in bodybuilding competition himself who I've known since High School). And he's training someone. So from 4 to 6 people. At this point my workout was over, and I spent some time catching up with him. As I'm leaving, I'm 5 feet from the 3-group, and he's about 20 feet behind me as he shouts out "What you getting into tonight?" I turned and answered "Trouble." firmly and loud enough they all heard me. As I turned around I locked eyes with the 7, as she was the only one in my path. Her mouth was wide open, and I recognized "shock" in her expression. I bulled past the 220 dude and the 10 ignoring them, snagged my keys and left. Got to the gym today, the 220 dude was watching the gym for the owner and was behind the counter, right at the door, with the 10 sitting there on the other side holding her phone. I planned on ignoring them again, and as I'm going to sign in she says "Hi." But it wasn't congruent, she's usually all smiles, but her face looked like she was flaming pissed, and it sounded angry. I locked her eyes and said hi blandly, walked around her, set my keys/phone/wallet on the counter, and went to lifting. I never looked back at them and they left together within 15minutes. I'm wondering why she even bothered saying "Hi." considering the real anger in her expression and tone. Would appreciate any insights, I'm just not as experienced with this type of behavior, I don't understand her motivations |

I'm not too sure what the intention behind writing the whole back story was about. Its clear you're a bit over invested mentally into a situation that was no big deal. Your'e trying to make this out to be something, when in actuality it was absolutely nothing. Maybe she got her period.. maybe her in the super man got into a argument maybe her cat was sick maybe her phone battery ran out maybe she wasn't even aware of her tone.. But who cares? Lets say you had a sure way to find out.. What would that do for you exactly? What would it do for her? If you haven't made a move in 4 weeks you don't intend to. Each passing day boxes you in to just another guy at the gym. And if you aren't going to make a move.. Why does any of this matter? |

I see your point, and thank you. And you are right, something kept me from making a move early on, and I've zero interest in doing so now or in the future. It mattered in I thought I lacked understanding, when I was making something from nothing that mattered. |
