Post subject:  Which books should i get?

Hey guys, brand new to this site and the whole pua thing. I was browsing the interenet looking for some books to help me out with picking up women and i came across this forum, so i thought I'd as you guys the question also.

Basically im looking for a book or two to help me get started off in the right direction. I am in every sense a complete newbie, and girl catching failure lol. Im not 100% on the terms but i believe its my "inner game" that needs the most help. Im a good looking guy and have no problem with the attraction part, but it's the inner self confidence, not knowing how to approach, how to speak. Im the 100% opposite of a social butterfly. And body language, i get a complete fail in that also as far as reading and projecting.

Two books that Kinda caught my attention that seemed to have a little support on here were

1. How to Become an Alpha Male ~ John Alexander
2. The zen of meeting women ~ Snubby (zen)

What do you think of starting off with one of those, would you recomend something different/better?

Thanks

You probably read MY review on The Zen of Meeting Women haha... I'll tell ya it's a great book!

There's isn't much out there that ISN'T worth reading, to be honest. The only book you should probably stay away from is The Art of Approaching by Thundercat. Total waste of time.

All the big-name books are pretty damn good, such as The Venusian Arts Handbook by Mystery (EVERY PUA has to read this at some point), Double Your Dating by David Deangelo, The Game by Neil Strauss (more for entertainment), anything by David Shade, that book by John Alexander (although some people prefer Carlos Xuma's Secrets of the Alpha Male over it)

Funny enough i actually did read your review. I was hoping to see some others views on it though since yours is really the only one i found on this forum.

What do people sometimes prefer about Carlos Xuma's Secrets of the Alpha Male? Are they pretty much the same thing?

Venesian arts is another i see mentioned alot. Whats that really targeted at?

Venusian Arts Handbook is practically a basic must. It sets the foundation for a LOT of the pickup stuff you are going to see all over the community.

It's a step-by-step model for Outer Game.

I haven't completely read the Xuma and Alexander books, but I've read bits from each... Xuma is more in-depth and hardcore, and Alexander writes in a friendlier manner lol

Xuma's book is a lot longer so it's more detailed. It's filled with a lot of mental exercises. Alexander's book is more concise.

Oh, and The Zen of Meeting Women is a pretty new release. That's why you won't find much info on it. The author is actually a member of this forum, though, so you can ask him any questions you may have.

Read The Game by Neil Strauss. Obligatory, motivating, and very entertaining.

Hey Chief, is the Venusian Arts different from the Mystery Method or are they the same book?

Venusian Arts sounds like a good book to pick up then, but at the moment i wanna try and focus on "inner game" and confidence. I think Venusian Arts might be something to complement that a few weeks down the road.

I really think the confidence/inner game is my worst point, not to mention getting that under control might have alot of positive effects on life in general. I assumed with the whole "zen" deal in the zen of meeting women it might have some of that life philosophy kinda stuff.

Is there a way to get carlos book without that really expensive package?

Same text. The only difference is that the rights for The Venusian Arts Handbook is owned by Venusian Arts, Mystery's company. The rights for The Mystery Method is owned by The Mystery Method Co., which is owned by Savoy. He took over that company and basically drove Mystery out, forcing him to start Venusian Arts.

Mystery isn't really the best at choosing business partners lol

Yeah, there's a thread on this forum about that somewhere.

From what I heard the story is a lot more complicated than that. Mystery tried to drive Savoy and the other instructors out and tried to steal the website that they owned 50-50. It didn't work because Savoy had the balls to go to court.

I try to stay out of most of that drama though. I'll buy Venusian Arts stuff if it's good or Love Systems (which seems to be post-TMM) stuff if it's good.

Right now my favorite books are the fashion bible by Brad P and the Love Systems Routines Manual, but I also liked the old Venusian Arts Hansbook.

I know drama is lame and this thread was not about this stuff and I'm new to the PUA world, but wikipedia is usually correct about most things. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Me ... ip_Dispute it says that Mystery was basically the one in the wrong and Savoy was just trying to protect his business.

What about that magic bullets book or whatever by Savory? Im under the impression that that's a updated version of MM, so would that be a better choice?

Magic Bullets is a great book, but it's not really an updated version of MM. He keeps some MM stuff, but it's a different system. One cool thing about it is that they send free updates. I bought mine a year ago and it's been updated a couple of time since and I just got an email that Magic Bullets version 2.0 will be out this summer, I'm psyched.
