This is a shitty question and it sucks that I feel the need to bring it up. I don't know how familiar you all are with herpes. There's HSV-1, which is the common cause of cold sores, and HSV-2 which is most commonly the cause of genital herpes. HSV-1 is commonly transmitted from kissing and HSV-2 is commonly transmitted from genital intercourse. These scenarios are possible, but less common: If a person with HSV-1 gives you oral sex, it can actually be transmitted to your genitals and cause gentital herpes. Similarly, if you give oral sex to a person with HSV-2, you can get cold sores from HSV-2. So, supposedly around ~20% of the adult population has HSV-2 and about ~60-70% of the adult population has HSV-1. Anyways, in most cases, just having either virus does not cause symptoms. Most people who have HSV-2 don't know that they have it. Many of us contracted HSV-1 when we were children without knowing it. So, I'm looking at the numbers and I'm wondering whether I should get tested. I don't have any symptoms, and I feel like if I found out I have HSV-2, and then I ended up giving it to someone else, I would have that shit on my mind... But, if I found out I had HSV-2, I would also be relieved, in a way, because I don't have any symptoms and I would know that I would probably be asymptomatic for life..... If I didn't have it, I would probably start being a lot more careful about what I do from this point forward, though. HSV-1, well, that's probably not something I can avoid and I don't think anyone could fault me for having it/giving it... |

Your data seems to apply to the US population based on the CDC although the figure is somewhere around 50% for oral herpes. Have a proper screen out strategy for girls whom you want some pussy eating and cock sucking hangouts with. Problem solved. Get tested too just to be sure. |

By screening, you mean asking questions that will give you a clue about you how many guys the've been with? How do you know if they're lying?

you should be getting texted every now and then anyway. Also, please practice safe sex. This keeps your mind at peace. Wrap it up. Be responsible to yourself and the other person. |

Nah. That's a very stupid screening strategy OP. Google "oral herpes symptoms" then click on "Images". Next, familiarize yourself with the pictures so the next time you interact with girls, you'll know what to look out for. There are also certain personality types that are prone to STIs. Search Wolfwoodd's epic threads at the Relationship section so you'll know which types of girlie personalities you should avoid. P.S. If you're not familiar with oral herpes symptoms yet, also avoid licking ass holes or prevent girls from licking your ass or sucking your balls. |

Honestly... if you plan on sleeping with a bunch of girls, something is bound to happen. You can't sign a 35 million dollar contract with the NFL to play football and never expect to get hurt. The best thing to do is obviously wrap your shit and ontop of that... keep your immune system strong. Prevention is alot easier than curing. And alot less painful and embarrassing. |

I had a scare 4 years ago. I thought I might be positive after a girl I randomly slept with told me later she had it. I started looking at pics, googling stats, asking questions on forums, etc and thought for sure I had it. After completely over thinking things and driving myself crazy I finally went and got tested and was negative for not just herpes but for everything. Felt like I dodged a bullet. After that I realized that knowing and dealing with it is entirely better than wondering and worrying about it. Take control of your situation and get tested. |

Barely matters. A lot of people are immune to it. If you aren't, you'll get symptoms. Understand, you WILL get BOTH types of herpes if you're successful with women. This is not debatable. It's a %100 certainty. If you aren't immune, you WILL get it. About 3/4 of women over the age of 40 have it. That other 1/4 have had fewer than 3 partners. You rack up even 10 lays and you're looking at a %95+ chance of having it. Stop worrying. You absolutely will get it if you can. And soon, if you don't already have it. Or else you're immune and will never get it. Condoms aren't even effective at preventing it. It makes you about 2/3 less likely to get it, on any given sexual encounter. When you look at your odds with and without condoms, it's still a sure shot with even 10 semi-regular partners. And you're probably aspiring to more than that. |
