I want to be a "stable" man. by "stable" I mean someone who is not easily shaken up, someone who can work well under pressure.

example: an emergency room doctor sees a patient who has been shot and bleeding. The doctor doesn't get all shaken up and anxious. He is of a stable mindset. he doesn't easily lose his composure.

how can I be like that? what are some high pressure activities I could engage in?

I found that from being in the marines. We used the term "kill" to end all of our sentences. I got out cold and heartless.

Now, I've since gotten back in touch with my emotions through self evaluation and deprogramming. I have answers for you ready to go, but I need some clarity first as to how far you want to take this.

Are you trying to reach sociopath levels of "stable" or are you trying to keep your empathy and just become a little stronger. BTW most of those doctors while they smile in your face are just as cold and heartless as a marine killing machine. Hence they try to up-sell you into surgeries for bigger checks.

I'll tell you what. Get the book Program Your Mind for Success in Record Time then you can brainstorm exactly how you want to be and put the qualities into that system and create yourself in your own image.

it is all about emotional intelligence. Once you control them, you can manage them under pressure, and the way I do it is by breathing. I work with emotionally unstable children with behavioral problems. Every day they test me, see if they can get under my skin. Let me tell you it took me a few months before I could be "stable". Today, there was a kid who was kicking a soccer ball at his staff, trying to see if he will crumble. The guy did well. The kid didn't know who I was, I was filling in for the gym teacher, that didn't mean I was off limits. He tried to get under my skin only a couple times, once he saw i was just chilling, he went on and bothered everyone else. Only kicking in my direction by accident.

Let me tell you, my adrenaline was pumping during that time. i was calm on the outside, but this kid sucked and his soccer ball went in all directions. I was mentally prepared. Pressure was on....the other kids were watching my reaction as well while they played basketball. This school is what it is for a reason, to bring kids who misbehave or broke the law here and try to get the back into the real world or real schools. Not always successful but it helps to have staff that are level headed and stable.

I'm going to go with confidence and no fear of failure here.
