Why is this important, you ask? Because the Game does NOT increase your capacity to provide resources of any kind, be it money or intangibles, to neither yourself, the woman, nor society. The Game rarely, if ever directly competes with the females' selection mechanisms much like a hacker would compete against a security system. The Game simply forces to to compete WITH OTHER MEN, within a very narrow set of approved categories that almost always cater to the female's preferences.
The woman is the one blowing the whistle, and the would-be "player" is jumping the hoops to impress her, occasionally pushing another circus animal aside (and by that I mean another man ~ starting to get where I'm aiming at?).

The player does get laid, but at the expense of other men and at the benefit of women, which pushes the already skewed balance even further into female territory. In effect, a player is, hardly better than a fedora-wearing beta orbiter or a feminist. It is simply harder to spot the immense toxicity of the player's behaviour, because the consequences aren't as immediately apparent and because the praise and occasional pussy that the player receives clouds his judgement. [Way to go! Base your entire identity on the frivolous judgement of the other gender! That'll make you a REAL MAN, right?]
The Game that you are playing cannot be won, even if you ignore all the condescending platitudes that the PUA experts dish out, all the BS marketing that the industry (and it is an industry no less) bombards you with, and actually manage to get real, genuine results. In the end, even the best case scenario is a won battle.... but a lost war.
First of all, "winning" in pretty much any aspect of life can be defined as getting what you want out of life. If you want to sleep with lots of hot chicks, and you end up sleeping with lots of hot chicks... you won.
Second, I don't think most of us are in this for validation or basing our identity on the judgement of women. Sleeping with women feels good. If we are doing that, we're getting what we want. If we're doing that without trading marriage, money or security we're definitely "winning."
