Post subject:  How to respond to a nasty response

I like to spend some of my time in the online dating community, to try some material, and work on meeting new people in general. Anyway, I messaged this girl whom said she played guitar on her profile (something that we had in common) so I messaged her. Our conversation went as follows.

Get your guitar, we're going to make it big! If not I'm blaming it on you :P As for the setup, I'll be the looks, and you be the talent. Any questions? :)

Yeah, are all of your opening messages this cocky and annoying or am I just special?

Got your attention didn't it? But seriously I didn't think I was attracted to such uptight girls, especially when we had so much in common according to your profile...unless you're lying that is :)

Not uptight. Just don't like cocky assholes. Still don't. Have a nice day.

I think I will. You too, hope you find somebody that makes you smile :)

She's a firecracker isn't she! Haha, I'll admit she took me by surprise, so props to her! I don't like leaving bad blood on my part, so as you see I wished her the best and continued on my way. But anyway, I don't really run into women being as openly rejectful as her.

So my question is: How could I have been able to turn this around to make her more friendly. Or what could I have done differently to avoid being shut out immediately.

Usually having a playful demeanor with emoticons to signify you're joking gets me pretty good results. But every now and then we have a girl like this who just doesn't take well to it. I'd like to know how I could have turned this around into a pleasant interaction.

I'm open to any opinion you can post, so post away!

Hahah I already like you OP. "Shes a firecracker isn't she!" 8) lool. Some girls are so used to guys sending them creative and witty messages that their just tired of it. Depending on how hot she is, she probably gets textbook messages like that from guys all the time. If there's something iv learned, its that the HB7 and below want to be validated and the HB7+ want to be spoken to. Like a human and not a set. Perhaps asking her about her day with a friendly poke/neg would have worked better.

I think the first message is too much. Personally, in person and when I did online game in the past, I prefer to keep fun opening messages simple, otherwise it comes off as too gamey and too much. Also, being overly cocky off the bat online is high risk cause she doesn't have a context for your sense of humor. The looks/talent line may have played better a few messages later. My 2c

Great advice guys, I'll definitely keep these in mind!

Any other people, I'd still be willing to hear your opinions! :D

This is the part where you went wrong. You got her attention, you don't need to continue with the neggy. Now it just seems like you're being a cocky asshole looking for a lay.

Something like "Got your attention didn't it? Seriously tho, would be cool to listen to some of your tunes if you've got any. Gotta love a girl with a guitar."

My process is generally.

Neg to get her attention > compliment > create investment > if interest drops at any point, neg again > built interest > build investment on her part > meet > kino > fuck.

Negging = Making her laugh with a jokey negative comment. Calling her "uptight" when she's being uptight is just reacting to her behavior which is unattractive on your end.

It's cocky, but I actually bet that routine/line would work on some girls with guitars/music preferences in their profiles. Depends on the girl.

That one clearly didn't like assholes.

For context, though, if you looked like Brad Pitt, I bet she'd love assholes...
