Post subject:  Photostudio in the Netherlands. Wanna shoot? And how to...

Hey guys,

Since three weeks, a dream came true: my own photostudio in the Netherlands. And it is huge! Located not far from Nijmegen/Arnhem and Lent, it's easy to reach. The place itself is a small town, but the cities around it are large, full of great people and the public transport connection is great.

Wanna shoot?
In order to build up a portfolio, I'm looking for people (good looking/confident?) who wanna have a photoshoot. You'll get some images which you can use online, and I'll get exposure and stuff for my portfolio. Interested? Pm me.

How to be known
Of course I can advertise through facebook, print flyers etc etc, but I like a more personal approach. Starting a conversation with people who I enjoy in my studio, and ending up giving my card, and welcoming them in my place of magic. But what's a good tactic for this?

Any great opener? Or be very direct? I have many ideas around this topic (which I'm going to try and just see which ones work...) but I'd very much like to hear your opinion.

Anyway hope to hear from you guys. Thanks in advance!

-Sinsitive.

Okay what I wanna try out:

Me: "Hey, got a question for you... *slight pause* did you ever do a professional photoshoot?"

Now there are 2 possibilities, yes and no. If yes, just ask how it went, if she liked it. Tell her I got a studio and I'd like her to check out my work and contact me if she likes it. Hand over business card.

If she never modeled before:
"Okay, well I'd like you to check out some of my work as a photographer. And if you like it, perhaps you can contact me so we could work together, if you like"

It's very very straightforward, give the person enough space to never react... but hey it might actually work if she wants it. If she doesn't want it that much, I don't want her in my studio anyway. :)

What do you guys think? Any suggestions are véry welcome!

Spend more time trying out your ideas in the field than coming up with ideas and thinking about the possible outcomes.

Experience will teach you a hell of a lot more than thinking about the potential future. Every time. Guaranteed.

Try out those openers you've already thought of and don't think of any new ones until you've tried all the ones you've thought of already. Then write a Field Report! I'll be looking forward to reading it and giving feedback.

Hi!

Yeah that's where I've been learning most of my stuff anyway, the field. But a few more suggestions to try out would be nice. Right now I don't feel I have anything that might work.

Will try and post here!

P.s. Zeem91 you've got a PM.

First of all, congratulations on realizing your dream! Big props to you.

Just get out there and chat up people like you would during normal day game. After talking to them a couple of minutes, I would give them a compliment on their style, looks or w/e. It has to be genuine though. "I just gotta say, I love your style! Did you ever try going to a photoshoot?" Whatever they answer "I got a Studio up at xxxx I'd love for you to come by sometime, I could really work wonders with you!" And then just hand them your card and move to the next one.

Just say whatever comes to mind, really. Like Chief said, experience is key. You'll learn what works soon enough!
