So I texted a girl last night at like 3 am, obviously for a booty call.

I wouldn't even acknowledge this text or the fact that you texted her at 3am. Just talk about something unrelated (making sure to leave at least 12 hours yourself, mind you). Then text her at 3am again sometime. Keep doing this, but don't acknowledge that you're doing this in any way or respond to any comment on it UNLESS she responds AT 3AM.

True enough. So what do you read into her text. That she is teasing him. That's why I suggested being unreactive and just trying again later.

I'm only suggesting not replying to this text because I don't think there's a good reply to be made. I think ignoring would be better. I don't consider it a "hard-to-get girly game", just avoiding getting into a dead-end conversation, which is what I think any of the above text replies would do.

The 12 hours thing is not necessarily the point. The point is resuming the conversation on his terms at his own leisure and not commenting on this unnecessary observation of hers (he knows he texted her late, she's only mentioning it to him to see what reaction he'll give her).

Two things can happen in this case:

1. The girl is excited.

2. The girl is turned off.
