Hey guys, I just had a quick question. I was just wondering if any of you have any quick tips to get a boost of courage to approach a woman. Thanks |

Shot of whiskey. Also, save a funny ass picture in your phone. Before you head over, look at it. You'll be smiling and upbeat when you walk over. Remind yourself that if she says "no," she fucked up, cause you're the shit. |

Alcohol doesn't really build courage, it just puts a bandaid on the problem. Ultimately, it can create dependence on substance rather than yourself which can be detrimental. Here are a few tips to help you out in the beginning: -Go out with some friends and support each other. Sometimes peer pressure really helps in those initial approaches -Set goals that are not based on outcomes. For example, don't focus on getting # closes in the beginning, just focus on being able to break the fear and open. -Write a blog or post on this forum about your experiences. Sometimes knowing that I will be posting my experienced helped me to do it. -If you are still too scared, start small and build up. For example: step 1: smile at girls step 2: smile and say hello step 3: smile and give a compliment step 4: smile, give a compliment and ask her a question step 5: etc... Each action you take will slowly build your self esteem. The key is to TAKE ACTION. There is no other way to gain experience and improve this skill. |

everyone has a different solution for their own anxiety. I just need the phrase of "she will possibly be gone forever if I don't say anything". Kicks my head into gear. |

The more I type this out, the cornier it sounds to me, but I just count to 3 in my head and go for it. If I feel fear, I just do the countdown and then everything kind of goes blank for a few seconds. When I snap out of it, I've done what needed to be done and all the anxiety is gone. Or there's whiskey, that helps too. Alcohol isn't the best idea for everyone, but if you can handle your alcohol, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. I agree with johngoldman that you can become dependent on it after a while, though. |
