| Post subject: | Ending a relationship |
This is a bit of a different question, considering that most of the posts on here are about *getting* women, but: does anyone have any tips on getting out of something, especially when you're seeing multiple people? I've been seeing this one girl for a few months, and things were going well for a little while but more recently they've headed south. At first I tried to make it work, but now I just want out; this girl doesn't treat me that well and my friends can tell I'm unhappy with her. Plus, I've also been dating around in the meantime; I know there are tons of other women whom I'd be interested in dating/who are interested in dating me. I know, obviously, that you can just say, "I'm not doing this anymore," but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips that I should keep in mind when ending something. I'd also be interested in knowing how you guys handle ending something (do you definitively tell her its over, or just let it die out, etc.), once again especially when you're dating several people. I need to be honest, but I'm a caring person, and being honest and direct doesn't mean being an asshole, you know? Thoughts? |

Perhaps obvious, but always good to reiterate: 1. Make sure she has an idea of what might be coming, e.g. 'We have to talk'. 2. Don't leave her hanging. Do it quick, like a band-aid. 3. Ask her if she wants to know why, if so, tell her what feelings led to the break-up. Don't talk about who did or didn't do what. It is not a time to argue. 4. Offer a hug, and say you can still be friends (if you really plan to). |

"I'm done." If she asks the reason, say something along the lines of: "It doesn't matter anymore. I'm just glad it ended." If she's a great girl you'd want to have around, though those things are very rare, say that she's an awesome chick and you'd both benefit for being friends. No lies, no explanations, no premature friend zones, no questions. You're simply done. |
