| Post subject: | College openers? |
I am currently attending a community college in Portland, Oregon. It seems that everyone here is not willing to meet new people, everyone is so serious about getting their cheap education. So i have found it hard to meet girls here. What are soume good openers i could use or topics i should start a conversation on? Openers with slightly intillectual humor embeded in them would work best, that way i could weed out the morons from the somewhat intelligent. Thanks, Mr. Ransom |

Asking about a professor seems to work. That way you can judge what her major could be probably, and if she doesn't you can start a funny anecdote about how horrible he is. Better yet if she's taken the professors course she'll open up and speak to you a little bit. I actually used this in my first style challenge to start a conversation. This works around registration time ( Which it was the last day to at my College) . Hopes this helps. --Encyclopedia. |

Community colleges with highly intellectual students? That's a new one. Give it time, people will get bored and want to have some fun. Open by saying you're lost and need directions, make sure the girl is going in the same direction your "lost location" is. |

I resent that comment, we cant all have our parents pay for us to goto university's.I went to 2 different community college's and am more intellectual then almost all of my friends, half of which are in grad school now. They dont have the same level of math or English skills i possess, and forget philosophy, psychology, etc. Not to mention they have like 5 times the dept i do, unless they had thier educations paid for. What your noticing is common in commuter college's. People usually have a job or simply dunt wana stick around on campus if they dont have to. Its in class out and back home, much different then the typical college SPAM. However its still possible to do well. Try going to high traffic areas and/or meeting places when you have free time (hall way, walk way, main path, lunch room, etc) As far as openers, i used this one tonight and got a good response from it. (modified it for your situation, mine was used in a warm aproach) You: "Hey guys i need an opinion, now i gotta get to class in a bit so i cant stay long, but tell me, what do you think is better...showing up to class late, or not at all?" Them: "blah blah" (usually some answer like niether, or one of the 2 options u picked) You: "Well i mean if you dont have any other option, your either gonna be late or chose not to show up. Obviously niether is good, but which one is the better of the 2?" (cut out 'but which one is the better of the 2.' if you get a straight answer) Then just continue with thier responses. Point out if they say not to show up that you just hate being 'that guy' who doesnt show up...it shows a lack of responsibility, plus your paying for it, might as well be there. If they say go in late just mention who you hate 'that guy' who shows up late and interupts things. from here just go into a DHV story, routine or stack a "opener" / question about a proffessor, a class, the school etc. |
