I finished reading The Game today,and I really didn't understand the whole AMOG thing.Is that basically just being an asshole and a cockblocker? |

There are two definitions floating out there for AMOG, and they mean different things. Here's what I've deduced, but I think everyone has his or her own set of beliefs about this term: AMOG- Alpha-Male Other Guy: an obstacle, usually formally acquainted with a target, i.e. her boyfriend (though, this is not always the case...they could have been talking earlier and this chump thinks he has a tag on her.) He is normally not a PUA (at least, he's definitely not Sarging with you, one would hope) He can either intentionally or unintentionally "cockblock" you, or keep you from isolating your target. Also, an AMOG might be a just a bastard who tries to embarrass you in front his peers to boost his social standing, resulting in harming your game. AMOG- Alpha-Male Of the Group: is a term that describes a guy who has social proof. You prove you are an asset to society or you are socially viable- you gain attraction from females. Here's a definition I found that may articulate the difference (more eloquently than I have) and also offers possible solution scenarios: <I'll have to post the link tomorrow, the administration won't let me yet because I'm new here> In his book, Style attributes both Alpha Male of the Group and Alpha Male Other Guy to my first definition mentioned. Decide what goes into your own personal lexicon, but just so you’re aware, there are different schools of thought on the subject. |

In my mind i see it as Alpha Male Of The Group, and dependant on its usage can refer positivly or negativly to a scenario. If someone were to AMOG you, they are acting in a manner to lower your social value to others while raising their own. Think how the captin of the highschool football team would treat people. Then there is AMOG used in a positive way, as if i were to say i was the AMOG of a group. This just means i have become the Alpha or leader of a group. Hopefully if you calibrate right you do not come accross as a ass. When you run a set your success is based somewhat on your ability to establish yourself as the AMOG of a group. In other words you go into the group, create high enough value for yourself(DHV's) and drop others vaule by either negs or AMOG'in guys in the group in a cool way. Usually if all the guys in the group are beta you dont really have to do much they will fall in line. If, however, there is an alpha in the group then they might try to put you down, countered properly you will lower their value and raise you own all while making them seem like the ass. hope this helps |

Nice job Zip. Obviously you're doing research. Great to see. Yes, future15, in essence, that's usually what AMOGing means. These guys are both right on their definitions. Just realize, most importantly, that if there is already and AMOG of the group, you will have to be really sharp on your feet to be able to . . . defuse his "attacks" on you for you to become the AMOG. It's not something you can always just jump into, especially if you don't already have strong social skills, but it IS something you SHOULD work toward. The other alpha of the group, he doesn't want to lose his position, because that also means losing the attraction of at least some of the girls of the group. So, of course, he's gonna try to keep you from becoming the alpha, which is also what you NEED to work toward. |

I find an easy way of becoming an AMOG, when there is already an existing one, is to become friendly with him, or at least, show respect. By showing respect and friendliness and that you aren't there to de-throne him, you not only gain his respect, but it also increases your value by being respected by him and being friends with him. Now that you and him are equally respected by the group, you just need to show how you are better, without coming off as trying to win people over. Use him as a ladder to climb up and make yourself higher. |

this is dangerous, what if the AMOG ignores you completely when you're trying to befriend him? You'll end up like a desperate idiot.

That's when you neg him, which in turn starts you climbing the social ladder in the group. Actually, you'll start climbing the ladder very fast when you do that. Either that or you'll just get completely blown out. And a lot of that depends on how interesting you are to begin with. And how strong your frame is. If the girls sense that you have a stronger frame, and think that you are more interesting, even if he does ignore you, when you neg him, that will still turn their attention to you. For one thing, it will shock everyone that you have the balls to do that. Then, since the frame has changed, you take it over keep things going. |
