hey guys i met this girl whilst waiting outside the club for my friends, only had about 5 mins to chat so all i got was her phone number. i text her today signing the message off with "mr amazing from outside ministry of sound". she laughed and now a few texts later she says "so... does mr amazing have a real name or would you prefer that one?" she's buying me dinner next week, so should i tell her my name? does it even make a difference or am i overanalysing? what would you reply? Thanks in advance, Mr amazing lol |

it can work either way, like u just ignore her q and then go on about somethin else, or since she is takin you out u might as well tell her your name no harm in that it would be different if it was a face to face conversation, then u dont tell her ur name for sure |

I could be wrong but when a girl asks you a direct question like that its a IOI, for some things like age/body type/job you should give them C & F answers for a bit, but eventually give them the real deal... However for name id probably use something C & F but still give my name up (or at least what you want her to refer to you as). If you do not typically call yourself mr. amazing then when she asked that question id say something like YOU: "Well Mr. Amazing is really only my middle name, i usually let people call me by my first name (insert name here)." or YOU: "Tell you what, i dont normally just give out my name to anyone. So you can refer to me that way til i see you at (insert place name here for diner). Then maybe ill tell what the people close to me refer to me as." (maybe the second one is no good, but it might work if your name is unique or if you still want to use an alias with her...might also add some intrigue to your date) |

I like "My mother told me not to give my name to strangers, but if you guess it, I'm sure she wouldn't mind Plus, I dunno when shes taking you out, but this may keep her talking to you til then. |

You're overanalyzing. Just be a normal person. Telling her your real name is not going to suddenly blow all your chances with her. |

This throws the hoop back at her on the age question in conversation, so I'm not sure if it will do the same here, but you could try something like: "Take a guess." or "My name? You tell me. What do I look like to you?" Then let her guess before you answer directly. But yeah, like the previous poster said, you're probably not going to lose any ground by just telling her. |

Remember when you're with her not to hang on every word. Don't psyche yourself up into thinking "Oh god, should I say this or shouldn't I?" How you say something is more important than what you say. |
