I don't drink alcohol at all and when I go out with my friends who all drink and we're with people who find out I don't drink they always ask "Why don't you drink?" and I sometimes get asked that with a weird look as if I'm really weird. The reason I don't drink is because my dad was an abusive alcoholic who used to try hit my mum and I'd get in the way and eventually when I could hit back I was able to protect her. However I don't really want to tell something like this to a complete stranger and destroy the fun vibe everyones having etc so anyone got any suggestions? |

Just tell them that you have an allergic reaction to alcohol. Some people actually do. If they question it, tell them that hormones that break down alcohol in your bloodstream differ from all kinds of people, and yours are extremely weak, whereas, if you drank alcohol, you would become extremely sick, and you choose not to be extremely sick. That should hold your friends over! That's the route I would take. -C |
