Post subject:  Followup email/call

Hi, folks.

I am new to the game and have an issue with followup emails/calls. Here is a very recent example:

I go to a dance class - for the first time in a while. I apply the theory to the best of my ability and walk away with two emails. All looks quite promissing at this point. I follow the basic procedure on wikihow (Pick-Up-a-Girl-in-a-Club), which is

18. Instead of asking for a phone number, ask for a business card. If she says she doesn't have one, ask if she has email.

.........

21. The next day, email all the women. Give them some sort of way for them to remember who you are, and give them your phone number and tell them when you will be available.

...which is where it all falls apart.

ME:Hi,........

This is {me from the dance class}.

It was a pleasure dancing with you. Unfortunately, I can’t make it to {X}’s class tonight.

I’m around Thursday after work, if you are up for a coffee. Failing that, there’s always the weekend. Let me know if either is good for you. My number is ###...

Take care of yourself,

......

HER: Hi, ...........

Sorry – evenings aren’t really good for me, as I have to pick my son up from school most days, and those I don’t, I tend to be dancing!

I’m also away this weekend, staying with my boyfriend in London, and won’t be back ‘til Wednesday.

But if you are around during the day any time, near uni, let me know.

.........

ME [trying to save face/maintain value]: No worries, .......... I assumed evenings would be easier for you; they obviously aren’t. To be honest, they aren’t for me either, because of training times. Have fun in London. We can sort something else out when you get back. Take care,

..........

Not good. The more attractive one hasn't even replied...

What am I doing wrong, guys?

Seems to me like you are talking too much, appearing to care too much, etc etc

She also talked about a boyfriend. Might have been an intentional method of throwing you off the trail.

I'd say wait until she contacts you. No doubt it will happen if you left a good impression. sorry I can't be of more help

You are making plans around them! They should be planning things around you. Also, don't ask for dates! Tell them you are going to do X on this date and they are welcome to join.

I see. Thanks a lot, guys. As always, it seems obvious once somebody else points it out. :)

Any advice for what to do when I see the pair of them at the next class (I mean the two girls, not the girl and her possibly non-existent bf)?
