Of course, we'd be happy to suggest some things to help. In fact I had some specific training on this when I was in automotive sales that I think could be beneficial to you. The idea obviously is that when maintaining good eye contact the customer trusts you more.

A big problem is most people don't know where to look and end up looking back and forth to each eye. This in effect causes you to shift your eyes back and forth. No one in sales wants to look "shifty" and neither do you. :) So a trick that I was taught was to pick on eye and concentrate on it.

I have been complimented on my eye contact in many cases by women and other people. When you go to open to speak to her pick on eye and focus on that eye. From a distance of more than a few feet she can't really tell which eye you are looking in and it appears as if you have contact with both eyes. I have experimented with this and found it to be true. I've even taught it to some women.

Anyways, if you are speaking to a group make sure to keep eye contact with the person you are directly speaking to. If you are speaking to the group in general make sure to share your eye contact. This very subtle thing can gain you a lot of trust with people.

Hope it helps man,

This is TRUE! I have one thing to add... choose their LEFT eye. Most people are right-handed and as a result their right eye is the dominant eye. If you stare at their non-dominate eye it will show your dominance...

But if you're like me, right-handed AND left eye dominate, well.... ha. There's no way of knowing unless you administer an eye dominance test (could be a cool routine I guess); then you'll know and can stare at the other eye. I don't mean 'stare' as in a creepy gaze, but just making eye contact knowing when to break occassionally.

That's true Quarterback about the eye dominance and trying to select the non-dominant eye. Which is why I just say pick and eye then stick with it. There is no way to really know which one is and is not the dominant eye, and then you have guys guessing at that, and then guessing is it my left or her left kind of thing. I just try to keep it simple.

However, if you are able to tell then yes establish better contact by focusing on her non-dominant eye. I typically by default choose a girl's left eye. (her left) because most people are right handed and right eye dominant.

Great point QB~

Great advice Jsmooth!
This is solid real life advice and no mere repetition of stuff you can find in any pick-up book! I like it!
Even though I have greatly improved my eye contact it is still difficult sometimes.
I will definately try this out! Some rep points coming your way!

Love

Ezo

Looking away a few times during the ocnversation doesn't hurt your game at all as long as you away to your sides ( If you look down it seems as if she's dominant over you)

GOOD POINT

Doing things to break rapport are good to do as well. You don't want to stare her down during the entire interaction which I agree. It's not good to look down really at all during any social interaction because as Adbul said it shows that you are not secure. Personally, within the first few minutes as a part of my non-verbal False Time Constraint I look at other groups that I might open. Honestly, I am thinking of the next to open but it works for the other as well.

For example, she might be talking to me and when she is done before I respond I'll look at another group and maybe even body rock before responding. It shows some active disinterest.

There is so much you can do with eye contact! :D
