Post subject:  Been told I can't dance and I am a bad dancer

Hey Guys,

The last few dances I was at, I've been told to the face by females that I, quote "Wow you're really bad at this" and "You really can't dance, can you" endquote (In a serious tone).

This is a personal insecurity of mine, don't know what to do about it, and I was pretty offended. Is it normal to be offended by a comment like this? What would a smooth comeback be?

I think i get offended because I realize that I am a bad dancer. I see the way other guys move, and their movements seem to make so much sense. I tend to get bored when I'm trying to dance at a party, do the same thing over and over again, fall off beat, just stand around...

The issue is that this Thursday, I'm going to a semiformal dinner/dance with a girl. I'm not sure how i'm going to handle the situation. What's your advice guys!

Thanks in advance,

MichaelAngelo

Go practice how to dance. You can play it off all you want, but girls find it a turn-off if you don't know how to dance.

Dancing is like a mating ritual. That's why girls get so attracted to a man who knows how to dance well. Just ask someone for some tips and, possibly, some practice. Simple dance moves (what you're probably going to be doing) are relatively easy to learn. It shouldn't take you more than an hour to pick it up, unless you're really clumsy.

If you refuse to dance, your date WILL dance with another guy. I was at a club once where a girl's boyfriend didn't want to dance. She ended up dancing with me, instead. They got into a big fight over it afterwards (making a scene), because she was getting really freaky with me on the dance floor (she was a bit drunk). Frankly, I thought he was being a douche. If you're going to take your girl out, then you should put some effort into entertaining her. That idiot just left her sitting there to go drink with his buddies. He had it coming to him. Don't be like that guy. Someone like me will just swoop in and take her off your hands.

In my experience; i have heard all kind of things.
Things like:
Dude, you really cant dance.
or I never met a guy who dances all night, usual they are just standing or sit at the bar.
And some girls asked if i was a dance instructor (supose that was her opener  )

What i do is look around, you know look what other guys do a night before, or watch some mtv, well pick out the easy moves that is or practice some.
My aditude if i am dancing is like: I dont care what other people think, I am having fun with a big smile on my face, making eye contact here and there, sort of showing some positive energy.

Succes if you guys can read my english haha

mate, i went through the same, i was terrible and i had loadsa girls say it to me. in the end i jus practsed a bit at home, an then thorught fuck it and tryed it more on a nyt out, i slowly improved, all you have to do is loosen your body more and move it to the beat

e.g stand still and move one shoulder back at a time to the beat
2. after doing that for a while when your shoulder comes back into place move your arm forwrd like your trying to tuch summit about 30cm from your crotch
3. relax, close your eyes and listern to the beat and it will eventually become and look more natural.
4. then after nod your head to the beat, when its all put to gether to start with you look like a robot but just relax and let ya body flow, do ya no what i mean?
