Post subject:  DHV Stories sticking point

Hey,

I'm currently having problems with gaining value from personal stories I tell. I try and make them sound as interesting and engaging as possible, but I think that may be my problem. I may come across as seeking value through the stories I tell. I have no problem with performing other routines such as the 5 wrong answer game and other mind-trick kinda things, but they don't have a lot of substance when it push comes to shove.

I know time in the field will help, but can anyone give me any pointers as to how I can get the desired response of DHV'ing through storytelling without coming across as needy?

Thanks in advance!

Have you ever heard the term, "He's trying too hard"?

Stop trying to think of ways to make yourself sound cool and just say whatever is on your mind. Stop trying to manage an impression. Be unstifled. Do whatever the fuck you want. Dance like an idiot. Blow raspberries on a fat girl's boobs. Chat up the oldest granny in the bar. Stop posing in your cool clothes. Start pumping a guy in the ass fully clothed. Do whatever it takes to make you stop giving a shit about looking cool.

If DHV stories are a source of worry for you, ditch the routine. The best style is to have no style at all (bruce lee). And the best routine is to have no routine at all. I keep saying that routines are like Dumbo's feather, you convince yourself that you can't fly without it. But it's just a placebo.

I've never used a DHV story in my pickup career. If you're good at them, use them. If you're no good at them, ditch them cuz you don't need them and they are causing you unnecessary worry.
