Post subject:  My Sticking point with opening

I've had this problem ever since I've tryed to get started with the game. I want to use a canned opener but as soon as I go to recite to people I get very uncomfortable like anxiety, or this fear comes up that they are going to ask me a follow up question regarding the opener or root and Im not going to know how to respond, so I will even tend to freeze up while delivering the opener, or repeat words I already said, has anyone else ever had this problem? if it was a real opener with a real situation I knew of, then this fear would not exist..but I don't want to be limited using only real life openers if PUA is part of delivering canned ones. how do you think in terms of using a Canned routine that isn't really you, without fearing its going to work against you? do you have to develop followup questions?

I used to sell newspapers. And before I sold newspapers I would have never been able to approach a set with such ease but after opening sets of hb's and talking every single one of them into buying a newspaper that they didn't even want, approaching without a stack of papers was just a small step. If you have trouble reciting material, you may need to simply calibrate yourself towards communicating with strangers. Find a political or simply important issue (like ron paul ) that you care about, print out some fliers and just pass them out to ANYBODY. Even if you run into the scariest AMOG wearing a damn hockey mask covered in blood, approach him and give him a flier. I've sold papers to people far scarier than a young beautiful woman and doing this helped my game even before I knew about the community.
Another problem you may have, may not even be your problem. I find a lot of popular openers to be uncomfortably incongruent with my personality or just rather dishonest, which could cause some unnecessary anxiety when reciting them. Instead of asking some bullshit opinion opener, just say, "Hey, you guy's look fun. Am I right?"
Don't think about seducing the women, don't even think about the fact that they are women, just converse and have fun. Once you begin feeling comfortable in set, start escalating kino from open to close and you'll see your game take flight.
Good luck out there!

thats exactly what the problem is, I start to freeze up, perhaps because I fear that something might go wrong in the conversation and reveal to them that its completely dishonest, but someone did suggest this to me

I don't worry -- probably because I usually customize them to fit me. They always have enough of my experiance in them to always answer a question.
is he saying take the opener, and adapt it to your life and the people you know, and have them play the part of who you are refering to, that way if they ever do ask you about it, you'll always have a follow-up?

When it comes down to it, the opener really doesn't matter as long as it successfully gets you in the set. To tell a lie to achieve something as easy and unimportant as greeting a chick or set of chicks, I believe is very unnecessary. Opinion openers are good for guy's who can't blast off right after the opener because it gets people talking immediately but if you only carry opinion openers in your arsenal you're going to end up being that weird fellow who goes around asking everyone the same damn questions opposed to the guy who opens every set with "Hey! What's up?" and never fails to be congruent afterwards.
The pua is a very fun guy, so he can say something as simple as "hello" to a group of strangers and by stacking his material, stay in the set. Also, you may feel odd with the over the shoulder technique, which at many times is very unnecessary. Try approaching directly in set almost like jesus, with your palms out and a big smile. I'll even occasionally call strangers over and make the set bigger just to make things more crazy and ultimately distract the obstacles so I can isolate. Just be the guy with no social fear, and you will go far with that trait alone.
