Anyone got any good tips or routines for gaming at Blockbuster.

Currently got employed and start tomorrow, And plenty of people come into the store and you pretty much talk to everyone who enters the store, which is a lot of girls.

Do i not really need any routines and just be my fun self and do all that requires to do my job well?

Lol I work at a blockbuster too :D been working there for about 8 months now and I haven't made a single pick-up while on the job, even though I started reading into this pick-up stuff about 3 months ago.

A lot of hot girls come in, most of the time it's either with their boyfriends or their families so it's very hard to isolate in that sense. However sometimes they come up to you to ask for help with finding a movie and this is where I try to get a conversation goin but it's very hard to create any sort of attraction when there are other customers waiting to rent their movies. Maybe it's like that for me cos I always work the nights that are the busiest. I'm also very interested to know if there are any routines out there for this sort of job.

Th funny thing is though, we get new members every day and so we need to get their personal information when signing them up, this includes their phone number, I have signed up many hot girls, but I've always felt it would be too creepy if I got their number from this process.

Different for me I've been in the community for a year now.

How I got the job was being good friends with the owner at another store who told me about the other store who was looking for workers.

I'll mostly be working nights as well, obviously most busiest, The best thing about it is it's a very social job which will make me talk to different people more, something I wanted. I'm sure you have had some great stories from talking to random people at work.

Also I notice you live in Australia. Adelaide for myself, You?

Yehh I definetely agree with about the social aspect. It's a great job for imrpoving both social and conversational skills. It has actually helped me really come out of my shell since I started as naturally I have always been a very shy guy. You get to talk to so many random people, and sometimes those random people turn into regular customers (as you work more you'll start to notice) and u start to talk to them as though you are friends and that's where those great stories that u mentioned come from, u might get some weird people at times but they are actually entertaining lol.

Anyways let me know how your first day goes, we could probably help each other out seeing as we're in the same job lol.

Oh and btw, I'm from Melbourne.

Poke fun at them man. People choose movies for a reason. Quote the movie, tell them what movie you think they would like based off their love for this one. You get to look at something they are interested in being entertained by. Make recommendations for them. Tell them you hear bad things about a movie, anything you just want to start a conversation.

"Wow You have terrible taste in movies"
"This movie is a terrible decision, I think you'd enjoy this movie with me more"
"Do you need company eating popcorn with you tonight?"
"Oh man I've bee wanting to see this movie, let me know your review".

You are literally just looking for an opening. I don't believe in routines so I won't give you any. I tend to observe the environment/person and make a comment. I work in a grocery store and so I get to see all sorts, they are both customer service jobs with fly girls. All I do is joke.

"Do you want help drinking this 12 pack tonight?"
"You enjoy your bla bla bla tonight" (it is usually something ridiculous like cleaning supplies).
"You know you are a gorgeous girl with a 12 pack in your hand"

Compliment jewelry or apparel is a nice opening as well to as long as you can do it confidently and not creepy like. The point is to start a conversation, since I am not a routine guy I can't be helpful on that end. I start conversations naturally, I don't look to use the same old canned routine every day.

Yeah I am the same as you man, using my environment around me to say what I want, And sometimes I'm not sure she will laugh, so I do it for my self, and they always laugh anyway.

What I meant by routine is like next time I see them should I continue where I left off at, Start in a few hours, So today I'll get my barring of how it will be.

And I'm sure the boss will love that I'm getting along with the costumers too ; D

Oh wow small world i use to work in blockbuster from 2008 July to 2009 Nov. From my personal experience, i stopped gaming at work cause it just felt awkward. All the routines i had consisted of talking about favorite movies then transitioning to some stories or gambits. i felt like the uniform Blockbuster makes you wear is a total cockblock uniform. thats just the way i felt. it was weird gaming a girl by the PRP section then having to deal with the whole "why do i have a balance" question at the check out counter. it was really greasy stuff but if you do wanna game a girl at BB while working, here is what i did
1) open by asking if they need help
2) suggest movies
3) FTC
4) Go into your next routine...
That was my structure, out of all the time i was working there i think i got about two # closes. maybe it the store i was working at. i dunno i dont recommend it but by all means expand your game. Cheers!
