I go to grad school with a lot of shy girls (nerds, many of them). Hey, you play with what you got. What I've found, though, is that negging is counter-productive. Just think about it, you can figure out why. Technically, the purpose of a neg is to make someone whose value is possibly higher than yours definitively lower than yours. If she's shy, she inherently perceives her own value as lower than yours (or she'd talk to you freely...like she can tallk to her closest friends but nobody else). The answer, therefore, is the reverse neg (nickname? Pos maybe?). Anyways, its purpose is to actually raise her value and consequentely associate you with a higher self esteem. How to do it? Its not hard, just tell her something that nobody else would tell her. Make her feel unique: "You've got a way about you, I can't describe it, but its there. Its a good thing." "You pull that [point to clothing item she is wearing] off well. Not many people could make that work" Don't worry, you don't run the risk of raising her value too high. Her value cannot be higher than yours because her value is inflated only when you exist in her frame. Obviously, she'll want to keep you there. -Esperanto |

Pos? How about compliment or appreciation? Act as if shes cooler than you, she'l start to feel cooler then you neg. I did it when i was in gr 9. Tho it wasnt on purpose because i didnt know what a neg was. |

good advice, i understand exactly where you're coming from - being in high school myself, most people of that age group tend to be insecure or very direct with their conversations, so anything subtle like a neg could blow your chances unless you have an ease of conversation going - i find the easiest way to do so is to initiate an interesting conversation and so exactly what you suggested |

i hear ya bro, that's exactly how it is - usually, the 9's and above in hs tend to be open to other areas of pu, including negs and such - but for the most part in these years, a simple 'hi, how are you' should suffice
