Post subject:  My new Sherlock Holmes routine

Ok, I made this up on the fly while on a Day 2 last night with a Japanese girl. It's really a composite of a couple of more well known routines. It worked well, but would appreciate help to refine it.

SITUATION
We were in a pub in Charing Cross (London) called the Sherlock Holmes, themed after the famous detective. About thirty minutes into the meeting. Here's how I started:

ME: Hey, you know Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective from the stories (gesturing to one of his B/W movies playing on the pub TV)
HER: Yeah
ME: Well one of the best things about his stories was how at the beginning he'd always give a demonstration of his observational powers. Holmes would watch a client walking across the road to his office and before he'd even entered the room Holmes would know all about his life from having observed small details in his appearance and manner
HER: Oh... (curious, wondering where it's going)
ME: You're interested in people, right?
HER: Yes
ME: And you like people?
HER: Yes
ME: So do you think you can learn about a stranger just from observing little things about them?
HER: Yes [trying to "yes" ladder her]

ME: Okay then. Let's play! See that girl sitting down over there [points to a chubby young tourist writing postcards at her table]. Pick three things about her and tell me what they tell you.
HER: Ok..... [thinks].....
ME: I'll give you an easy example to start. She's writing postcards. That means she's a tourist.
HER: blah blah blah [gives observations, I IoI a little].

ME: blah blah blah [gives observations - DHVing as best as I can and making sure I don't say anything mean about the tourist]
e.g. See how she's wearing flip flops, a short t-shirt and she's not got a coat with her even though its 10pm now and getting chilly. That means she's been out all day, probably since before lunch, and hasn't been back to her hotel yet. It's much cooler now than it was during the day.

ME: You know, often you can get right to the essence of a person's character if you can have them visualise abstract thoughts and share them.

[Cube routine]

ME: Wow, when I met you I assumed you were just another pretty girl but now I see..... blah blah blah.

I like it, I may use that in the future... I do think that its kinda funny though how you asked her if she knew about sherlock in a bar themed after him with his movie on tv. I guess that woulda weeded her out if she was retarded or something lol.
